Wait, I thought guns were illegal in DC!
Oh, OK, I was thinking Bremerton from the title.
If he is Christian he will be a “gun nut belonging to a right wing militia”. If he is Muslim it will be “workplace violence”
Radio report says multiple people have been shot.
That’s why the shooter is active not terminated.
Wow, my thread on this got pulled lickity-split.
I work next door. The whole Navy Yard is shut down. Tons of police driving by and helicopters flying above. Was supposed to go over there this morning for a meeting - glad it was for later this morning.
Another Gun-Free zone in which the natural right of people to protect themselves has been usurped by the Government.
Washington Navy Yard is a military installation, you’d think there would be a few armed people there.
Its probably just another mooslum being moozlum. Move along. Nothing to see here.
There are quite a few. There are armed guards at all the gates to get in.
Calling it now: white guy.
Lately things have been more diverse but the odds are still in my favor.
Glad you’re okay.
Our military is not allowed to carry loaded weapons on US soil, it might hurt someone’s feelings.
Duplicate threads are pulled, even just duplicates of the subject when it is genuine breaking news.
Just like Ft. Hood. And that is in TX.
Local ABC 7 news link here. . .
MoMo or those pesky Amish?
Where is Leroy Jethro Gibbs when you need him. Seriously though I pray that all are OK.
‘Workplace violence’ again?
How can this even happen on a military base? Reports of shooter being in command center!
Peter Doocey reports hearing a call of ‘officer down’ go out from the 3rd floor (Building 197?).
Building 197 is the focus of the police activity, three shoots fired, one person injured. Still on the loose.
And when Sec Def is in theatre, no arms allowed there too....remember?
Bill Hemmer: Unconfirmed report of shooter on 4th floor (Building 197?).
By all means we must enact stricter gun laws in the DC and surrounding area. Oh wait. They’ve already done that. Hmmm? I guess terry mcawful will have a new reason to violate the 2nd in Virginia once he gets elected. Maybe he and nannie bloomers can have a beer summit and the MAIGgots can start a new org..... GAG. Governors against guns. Or does that already exist?
Thanks! That building is the command center! They need to be looking at every ROP member of the military that has access to that facility.
Ed Zeigler Navy spokesperson said he is pretty sure there have been one or two fatalities (Fox news)
White guys known to shoot up public spaces.
Fox News guy says they do not run operations from there but it is a missile procurement site. So do they store missiles and arms there?
CVS? Is this really in the Yard or is this out in town?
ABC News: at least 5 people may have been shot. SWAT team on the scene.
MSNBC reporter says eyewitness reports base security officer one of first shot.
That doesn’t look like the Navy Yard.
ABC radio news says “multiple fatalities”.
Hemmer on phone with Capt. Chuck Nash, former US Navy.
Nash says no guns are allowed inside the building, except for security personnel — basically, a gun free zone.
WOW! that’s good to know. But we now have to assume that the shooter is unable to read English. [/s]
As the search continues for the shooter at Washington Navy Yard... President Obama says, "Our original intent was to use a search pattern that would have been very smooth and disciplined and linear However, due to the Republicans normal evil attitude and obstancy, we may have to shut down the government and the search until my dear, dear friend Russian President Putin can offer up a policy we can all agree upon and implement."
Wasn't I in this same movie... back in the 60s?
Yeah, you were, you dumb schmuck... and you rode a atomic bomb!
And perky Katie Couric... showed off her new boobs, exclaiming, "I back the President 'cause I've found love again!"
Back to the Navy Yard search, to help ease recent immigrants into society, President Obama... has ordered them to help in the search even if they do not have any badges.
Now in private life, Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton offered no comment on the Navy Yard search... saying it would not make any difference anyway.
And with this breaking news, Charlie Sheen confirms... that the shooter is not recently fired Selma Blair.
According to several sources, President Obama has broken his silence and confirms his complete support... for Ben Affleck as the new Batman.
We now return you to this Free Republic thread already in progress... this has been Ken Brockmann reporting.
1person pointed out on that feed that this is the METRO area, not Navy Yard. I could not believe the old yard looks like that.
Meanwhile, all kinds of news places are begging him to use this photo even though it’s bogus. Geesh. And we wonder why true urgent news is usually so wrong.
Local NBC 4 - WRC news and video. . .
Not again! Prayers up!
But I have to say (post) publicly...how odd I find that photo. Civilians are helping the downed man; EMTs are no doubt racing to the scene, but some how that guy in the suit has yellow police tape? Just odd. Very odd.
From WUSA-TV reporter via Twitter:
A DC police office shot in legs on 3rd floor of Navy Yard bldg according to a report. Same report says shooter has AR 15 and other weapons
Agreed, and that is always my guess.
Well, back to making comments on other people’s threads.
4 victims, 1 is a police officer. Unknown whether those are deceased or injured.
No. NAVSEA is the bureaucracy dealing with naval contractors to engineer ships.
Yet the others haven’t been pulled. Yet.
Check replies. 1 person states it is near Metro station, but no one listens. I’m quite positive the old yard does not look that clean and cosmopolitan.
