Death Panels by a thousand cuts.
No one could have seen this coming, no one.
From the L.A. Times, that hotbed of right-wing scare-tactics, Insurers limiting doctors, hospitals in health insurance market:
The doctor cant see you now.
Consumers may hear that a lot more often after getting health insurance under President Obamas Affordable Care Act.
To hold down premiums, major insurers in California have sharply limited the number of doctors and hospitals available to patients in the states new health insurance market opening Oct. 1.
New data reveal the extent of those cuts in California, a crucial test bed for the federal healthcare law.
These diminished medical networks are fueling growing concerns that many patients will still struggle to get care despite the nations biggest healthcare expansion in half a century.
Consumers could see long wait times, a scarcity of specialists and loss of a longtime doctor.
These narrow networks wont work because they cut off access for patients, said Dr. Richard Baker, executive director of the Urban Health Institute at Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles. We dont want this to become a roadblock.
Welcome to the new normal.
Death Panels?
I will take, “guess who was right about Death Panels” for 100 Alex.
When Reagan was president, we had the Thompson Twins everywhere. It was a better time.

Earlier this week I asked my Internist if they [Internal Medicine Clinic] were expecting any major changes when Obamacare starts.
He replied that they were ‘just waiting to see what they get hit with.’
I suspect a lot of small medical practices are waiting. The impact may not be felt for months — as those small practices get hit with new regulations and reporting requirements, etc.
I was going to have a five-month wait to again see a specialist ARNP. Then it turned out the receptionist made a mistake and the five months was for new patients. So now it is six weeks for me, which is a whole lot better but I wish it could be tomorrow. There are no covered physicians in the specialty anywhere in this area so an ARNP it is.
And is the Cali government selecting which doctors and hospitals will be available? Did they access some IRS files to see the political donations and voting records(?) of said doctors and hospitals to decided who would be allowed access to the ZeroCare $$?
You mean like they did to car dealerships when they took over GMC and Chrysler?
I think the next two months will see civil unrest in the streets as the cold slap of ObamaCare hits those with private healthcare plans at last.
OK, maybe not rioting, but tons of screaming and moaning from those who were heretofore Obama’s Imperial Loyalists.
Doctor Who is no longer a show, it is a Response when go to the hospital and ask for one...
“I’d like a doctor to treat this wound”
“Doctor Who?”
I’ve said this over and over, but there are huge opportunities in this mess. Insurance companies have already opted out of the exchanges, so they will continue to offer policies that don’t match 0bamacare’s requirements, leaving their customers to pay a tax for the “right” to have the health insurance of their choice.
On the other hand, I’m certain there will be some doctors who refuse to see 0bamacare patients (just as some refuse Medicare now). Unlike Hillarycare, there is no penalty for a doctor seeing a patient outside of the government system.
If nothing else, there will be a million clinics along the border serving the needs of those who are within traveling distance.
Opportunities abound, folks.
Converted cruise and cargo ships offshore as hospital ships? Medical tourism in the Pacific, Central and South America?
Better dust off your old Red Cross manual to heel they self.
No one could have seen this coming, no one.
Well, except for people smart enough to have read about socialism in history books.
preventative medicine is key. be proactive. don’t take stupid’risks.
Just like in every other country with socialized medicine.
Didn't see that one coming.
I hope to God you're right. But I'm afraid the public, outside of us Tea Party types, will just shrug their shoulders.
And the liberals will blame Republicans for the failure of socialized medicine.
Snailmail, email and call your Representative and Senators and tell them to remove funding for Obamacare from the coming Continuing Resolution.
Do this even if one or both are RATS. Now is the time to make a resounding impression.
Out beyond the 12 mile limit with well appointed crusiers to run the patients back and forth.
I expect this will be a growth industry.
As you note, border clinics. My projection was hospital ships... just like gambling ships that operate outside of state or federal limits. Another poster pointed out that Indian Reservations are exempt from many laws, as we've seen with casinos. It would be ironic if the depressed reservations became new enterprise centers. Why, just the other day, I read that the location of a new oil refinery was contemplated in a reservation. Why not medical clinics, too?
There are a whole lot of people who have no clue about anything regarding the fines or anything else about Obamacare. Most people work all day and catch a few mins of the local news and then watch a movie. They have no clue yet what is about to hit them and it will hit them all like a ton of bricks.
