Overall, given the sheer population size of India, its high tech capability (e.g., they have launched satellites, etc. and are a regular arms refitter/modernization arm for older Russian and Chinese arms, have the bomb and a large contingent of highly educated scientists and mathematicians, and a not shabby military), it is a good pairing for Israel.
In fact, the US should be better sustaining its relationship with India instead of a mostly backward Muslim extremist country like Pakistan - who sheltered Osama Bin Laden for over a decade.
In the end, when push comes to shove, and we end up confronting Russia and/or China with only our nuke arsenal that Obama is hell-bent on destroying, wouldn’t you rather have a billion or two Indians on your side?

Not only that, Gaffer, but India has taken long strides away from its socialism of its first few decades of independence, and seems determined to comport itself as a constitutional state with representative government, rights for all, economic and individual freedom, et cetera. It's not hard to understand why President You Didn't Build That would side with Pakistan; for the vast majority of Americans, however, the obvious choice is India.
