(CNSNews.com) - Americans who live in households whose income is below the federal “poverty” level typically have cell phones (as well as landline phones), computers, televisions, video recorders, air conditioning, refrigerators, gas or electric stoves, and washers and dryers and microwaves, according to a newly released report from the Census Bureau.

In fact, 80.9 percent of households below the poverty level have cell phones, and a healthy majority—58.2 percent—have computers.

We need to shut up and quit griping. We are blessed. We HAVE no poor as the world understands that concept. A whole lot of people need to make a trip to Africa or Central America to understand what poverty is really all about.

How do these people allegedly grappling with poverty afford a $50,000 Cadillac???

I went out to dinner not long ago, to a somewhat upscale place. And there were a few young black couples, who arrived in nice cars such as Lincoln Navigators. They emerge from the cars, and have the gang swagger and persona about them. I figured these young men are too young to have graduated college with degrees in engineering or some other lucrative field. Yet here they are, driving luxury cars, with attractive females as their date for the evening.

My guess is that they did something illegal to be able to have Lincoln Navigators. Of course it’s racist to speculate about that so I better stop now.

I've seen poverty.*Real* poverty.In Africa *and* Asia.In Tanzania I saw a little child (black,of course),perhaps 8 years old,with red/orange hair,a big belly and little stick legs.Those are the classic signs of profound malnutrition (the red hair is seen in black people I'm told).In the Bronx,OTOH,you also see people with big bellies...but the rest of them tends to be big as well.And they,unlike the child in Tanzania,are usually on an ObamaPhone.

I never understood poverty until I served a tour in SE Asia, and saw how the people there lived.
