NYT: A Plea for Caution From Russia: What Putin Has to Say to Americans About Syria
New York Times ^ | September 11, 2013 | Vladimir V. Putin

MOSCOW — RECENT events surrounding Syria have prompted me to speak directly to the American people and their political leaders. It is important to do so at a time of insufficient communication between our societies.

Relations between us have passed through different stages. We stood against each other during the cold war. But we were also allies once, and defeated the Nazis together. The universal international organization — the United Nations — was then established to prevent such devastation from ever happening again.

The United Nations’ founders understood that decisions affecting war and peace should happen only by consensus, and with America’s consent the veto by Security Council permanent members was enshrined in the United Nations Charter. The profound wisdom of this has underpinned the stability of international relations for decades.

Let’s see: who was it that invaded and killed their neighboring countries, and tried to conquer the world by force? Hmmmm, was it the Evil Russian Soviets?

And who was it that stopped these Evil Bastards? Hmmm, was it the Exceptional Americans?

F YOU PUTIN!

American exceptionalism is not about being better than anyone else, it is about our unique history and aspiration for real freedom.

Putin is correct about exceptionalism based on the false, jingoistic way in which Obama described it. Putin is calling Obama on Obama's own shallowness. I don't think that Obama even understands what American exceptionalism is. He views it with disdain as moral superiority, with which he let his speechwriter run wild. Putin understands, however, and hangs Obama with his own words. No offense was intended to American patriots. This was just some business he had with Obama.

The US Left is going nuts over this.

He has dared to speak some truth about Obama, and that simply cannot be allowed.

Putin funds Islamic nutcases everywhere except within Russia and republics that attack Russians, then, he is merciless but don’t worry, all that Russian aid and Nukes for Iran will come back to haunt the SOB when they turn on Moscow...
