A hate crime is a hate crime no matter what race you are
Courier Life's Brooklyn Daily ^ | September 11, 2013 | Joanna DelBuono

Posted on 09/11/2013 4:45:17 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Shocker, the New York Times got it wrong again.

The ultra-liberal, mamby-pamby editors of the Gray Lady didn’t have the guts to point out that Sheepshead Bay Resident Jeffrey Babbitt was the victim of a hate crime when he was punched and killed by a black man in Manhattan last week.

How did the times headline the story?

“Fatally assaulted in possible random hate crime.”

Are you kidding? Babbitt, the 62 year-old, retired MTA train operator, was the wrong white man in the wrong place at the wrong time, and now he is dead, and the editors of the Paper of Record need to take their heads out of their posterior and call a hate crime a hate crime. No “ands,” “ifs,” or “possibles” about it.

The alleged thug, Lashawn Marten, reportedly assaulted Mr. Babbitt after he shouted, “I’m going to punch the first white man I see,” right before Mr. Babbitt unfortunately walked by. I don’t know about you, but that sounds pretty biased and hate-fueled to me.

So my question is, “Hey Mr. Sharpton, Mr. Obama, where are you now?” I’d like to know why you haven’t grabbed the mic and declared your wrath over this most definite hate-bias crime.

Well, it’s clear as day that Mr. Sharpton is busy looking for just the right hate crime to get his picture in the paper and our president, Mr. Obama, is too busy making disappearing red lines in the sand with Syria to be worried about Mr. Babbitt. It’s funny how both Mr. Sharpton and Mr. Obama seem to suffer from a terrible case of selective righteousness.

Trayvon Martin was important enough for Mr. Sharpton’s speechifying and action as well as the president to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Trayvon’s parents, but not Jeffrey Babbitt, whose 94-year-old mother is now left bereft and alone. Who will pat Mrs. Babbitt on the shoulder and commiserate with her loss? Will Mr. Sharpton run to be by her side? Will the president make a special visit to Brooklyn to hold her hand and shed a tear at her son’s loss?

No one should be attacked, whether black, white, red, or green. We have come to a point in our evolution where these crimes must stop occurring.

But the bigger point is that when they do, everyone — every single one of us — should raise our indignation to the highest voice and defend those that are assaulted. Mr. Sharpton and Mr. President included. The unbridled greedy need for publicity should not be the criteria for them to raise their voices and put their mouths to good use, defending all that are victimized because of race.

And the media needs to get on board too. I don’t read a paper or listen to the nightly news to hear an opinion, I’m looking to hear the facts, just the facts. The media’s responsibility is to report the news, not their opinions and slanted views.

Not for Nuthin,™ but Jeffrey Babbitt deserves the same indignation as Trayvon Martin. And their ain’t no “possibles” about it.

Hate isn’t a crime. Crime is a crime.

No press conference with the prrsident about how, if he had a son, he would look like the perpetrator.

A “hate crime” is a progressive language and society manipulation tool that we should fight against.

A crime is a crime is a crime.

Jeffrey Babbitt deserves the same indignation as Trayvon Martin.

Beg to differ. There is considerable evidence TM got exactly what he was asking for.

Mr. Babbitt was just minding his own business.

Mr.Babbit, may he rest in peace. I’m wondering when they are going to propose naming an asteroid after him....

I don’t think the NYT got it wrong.... to them. They sincerely believe a (so-called) hate crime can only occur if it is white on black. Black on white crime is to be excused because of racism, therefor, not hate. This, I believe, is the Left’s meme.

This nation has no business entertaining any such concept as "hate crime." That is thought crime and as such there is some severe conflict with the Constitution and everything Americans have historically been about.

And murder is murder whether the murderer hates his victim or not. The hatred makes the dead no deader or his family more bereft.

Indeed, someone need to remind white folks that all along it was only for blacks and gays that hate crime was meant.

“A “hate crime” is a progressive language and society manipulation tool that we should fight against.

of course. for liberals “hate “ is the word next step up from their old favorite, “mean spirited”. the closest I could ever come to understanding that phrase is when a liberal didn’t like your actions but they weren’t illegal, so you were mean spirited.
now hate means any type of thought a liberal disagrees with.

next step is thought crime.

Yes, and where are the NYC mayoral candidates and city council members? After much righteous indignation over the Trayvon Marton verdict, they have nothing to say - not even an expression of sympathy for the victim’s 96-year old mother, who depended on him for her care.

This crime took place in Councilman Garodnick’s district. After he voted for an additional police overseer and the right of a “protected” minority to sue the police for discrimination after a stop for questioning - he has nothing to say?

random hate crime

How many times they got to tell you? It was a random hate crime. Not a regular hate crime.

Makes me sick. The double standard from the bottom up. A new low point in the civility lecture circuit... silence...
Oh well ...
not from complacency on my part but from a strengthened resolve to put this country back on the right path.

New term ‘racial violence’, individualized violence or plain old vanilla crime it’d on the rise. Call it what you want it’s not being properly addressed by or dear leaders, the judicial system, the law enforcement political puppets and more especially the news media in almost totality.

The best defense is a good offense.
“Travel in numbers, keep your distance, don’t turn your back, pack heat always and don’t stay or go where you can’t pack heat. Keep your hand on it and look smug smug smug.”

Those who disagree with the progressive agenda are commonly called haters in the antisocial social media hoods, so when fedzilla declares a "War on Hate" it will be open season w/ no-limits on the remnant of Americans whose moral framework is based on reality and reason.

Wedding cake bakers forced out of business for not playing pretend, citizens pummeled and/or shot for breathing while white... how many canaries in the mines does one society need? The carcases are piling up.
