Heres the read among Congressional Dems on this falls fiscal fights. At some point, House GOP leaders will have to pass an important bill with a lot of Democratic support stiff-arming the Tea Party in the process. GOP leaders are trying to defer that moment for as long as possible, but theres just no clear way around it. Multiple reports this morning tell us House GOP leaders are struggling to round up support among House
Republicans for their new strategy for the fall. They are proposing a vote on a measure that would temporarily fund the government at current sequester levels, with another measure attached to it that would defund Obamacare. The Dem-controlled Senate would pass the first but not the second; conservatives would get to vote to defund Obamacare; the House GOP would dodge blame for a shutdown.
But conservatives are rejecting the approach because, well, it wouldnt defund Obamacare. And lets face it, this strategy is rooted in fear. House GOP leaders dont want to tie Obamacare defunding to a government funding bill because it will pass the House and force a shutdown confrontation that they will lose. But conservatives wont be happy until they have that confrontation. And as David Drucker reports, this has frustrated more sober minded House Republicans who understand that this crusade is reckless, counterproductive and self destructive.
Right now, its unclear whether House Republicans can even pass their latest funding gimmick out of the House, because House Dems wont support it and House conservatives wont either because it wont ultimately defund Obamas tyrannical law. So House leaders are promising to fight the good fight in the next battle...

You sure he isn’t already... Oh.
You said “run” not “chug”.
What’s the over/under on Bonehead doing the latter anyway?
and vice versa
What is there to cut?
yes John Boehner, cut the tea party loose
please!
Drop the pretenses and let’s see how well you do without conservatives
The RINO's outnumber the few Good Guys, and The Agenda WILL move forward, as will Amnesty and Obamacare.
Once Passed, Laws that are wealth-redistributing and vote-buying are NEVER undone, PERIOD.
1. Boehner is not in any way affiliated with the Tea Party, so there’s nothing to cut loose, and;
2. When will the Compost take 0bama to task for not cutting loose the Communist Party?
Oh wait, the democrats ARE communists. Silly me.
This is BS. The GOPe has already shown they are sensitive to the "Republicans have to pay the bill they're run up" argument they were defeated with last time. Obastard is already beating that drum, and if the GOPe is promising to "fight the good fight" over the debt limit, they are lying through their teeth.
Again. Sonsabitches think we're pretty stupid.
We’ve already beat him to it. He’s already been stiff-armed by the Tea Party.
ROTFL!!! That's some funny stuff right there. I hope he's not talking about the GOP's "important bill" being amnesty for illegal aliens.
Just say NO to drugs.
If he does, he cuts his own throat
“Boehner should stiff arm the tea party? He’s not exactly running interference. “
Jim, how could he do that? Nothing he has is stiff, ever!
Boehner is also in our sights when he's up for re-election.
You assert he sold is soul, has no redeemable courage or principals.
Probably a combo of that and his dossier.
That’s right John Boner, listen to your democrat pals,
I’m sure they have your best interests at heart.
Idiot!
Numbskull!
Embrace the Tea Party, it IS your base!
It is always a major red flag when one political party says another “has” to do something.
“At some point, House GOP leaders will have to pass an important bill with a lot of Democratic support...”
This automatically raises the question of what happens if they *don’t* do what the other party says they *have* to do?
Immediately this brings to mind the “disaster” of sequestration. You remember, all those dire predictions that America would collapse if even a tiny bit of fat was cut?
As it turned out, the *only* ill effects of sequestration were *intentional* on the part of the administration, in a truly petty effort to *hurt* people, so they would pressure the Republicans to cave.
There was, and still is, such profound fat, lard, bloat and waste in government that realistically speaking, it could lose 20-25% of its funding, and the typical American wouldn’t even notice, *except* that the economy would suddenly improve.
So a continuing resolution to fund the fat, lard, bloat and waste in government offers nothing to the Republican leadership, only if they are stupid enough to think it does.
We can all hope they learned a lesson with sequestration: the world does not end if you stop spending money like a drunken sailor who wants to buy a round for the “rest of the world”.
Boehner has already cut ties with the Tea party.
Has WaPo been not following Boehner’s actions since he’s become majority leader?
We need to cut Boehner!!!!!
I thought the title alone was hilarious. But you are right. The author must be on drugs.
