A spokesman for Public Policy Polling admitted Wednesday to withholding a poll showing Colorado voters were going to recall State Sen. Angela Giron by a 12-point margin.
The reason, according to PPP pollster Tom Jensen, was that “in a district that Barack Obama won by almost 20 points, I figured there was no way that could be right and made a rare decision not to release the poll.”
When the votes were counted in race, the poll turned out to be on target, as Giron lost by 12 points. “We should have had more faith in our numbers,” Jensen said.
Interestingly, the poll also found 68 percent supporting background checks and an evenly split on a law limiting high capacity ammunition magazines.
The poll also found 53 percent of voters approved of the National Rifle Association.
One might think that Giron's stances on gun control would produce a different result in an overwhelmingly Democratic district, but Jensen pointed to the factor that made the difference:
But the NRA won the messaging game and turned it into something bigger than it was — even if that wasn’t true — and Giron paid the price.
In other words, PPP withheld the poll because it might discourage Democrats.
The thing that struck me about the results of this election Is how upside down the results were, with the other DemonCrap losing by only 2 percentage points, while this witch lost by about 12. Then it struck me. The DemonCraps, thinking the witch would win on her own, directed all their election theft efforts into the other race, which they still lost, but only because the honest votes were so heavily against them that it was impossible to steal the election.

There is probably some chance that the opportunity to “pull the flush handle on ANY politician” padded these numbers a bit.

I seriously doubt that this is a rare decision. PPP has just lost any credibility it ever had. I have long maintained that polls are selectively released to appease political or financial interests. If CBS commissions a poll, they will get the best results (from CBS' perspective) possible. Stuff like this just confirms my suspicions about this.
So I wonder if the MSM is going to pick up on this as a major story that it was known what was going to happen, but nobody wanted to admit the truth until their nose was rubbed in it?

The reason is that Obama's MSM and polling groups are so accustomed to being able to force issues to conclude a certain way, that they refused to believe it didn't work this time!

Background checks, permits, limits on magazines are all violations of the Second Amendment. “Shall not be infringed” is not a set of weasel words that can be reinterpreted into something else. It’s a command that government keep its hands off the right - not privilege - of all citizens to keep and bear arms. I don’t care if a person is a 10-time felon, they still have the inalienable right to bear arms.
If this sounds like too hardline a stance for your comfort, just consider whether similar restrictions on speech would be an acceptable compromise. Government permits to speak? To believe in God? To publish one’s opinion? Those are the 1st Amendment equivalents of these offenses to the 2nd.
Here are a few more interesting factoids that you’d think the GOP would be paying attention to:
- Giron is Hispanic, in a heavily Latino district. Turns out that Hispanic voters value their Second Amendment rights as much as any other voting bloc. Memo to all those Republican consultants looking for a way to connect with Hispanic voters.
- The successful effort was organized and funded almost entirely at the local level, with the only significant outside support from the NRA. Not surprisingly, many of those behind the recall were Tea Partiers. You’d think the GOP establishment wouldn’t be in such a hurry to jettison this critical element of their base.
But then again, the party establishment is more worried about being called racist than winning elections
