U.S. President Barack Obama resisted pressure on Friday to abandon plans for air strikes against Syria and enlisted the support of 10 fellow leaders for a "strong" response to a chemical weapons attack.
Obama refused to blink after Russian President Vladimir Putin led a campaign to talk him out of military intervention at a two-day summit of the Group of Twenty developed and developing economies in St. Petersburg.
He persuaded nine other G20 nations plus Spain to join the United States in signing a statement calling for a strong international response, although it fell short of supporting military strikes, underscoring the deep disagreements that dominated the summit.

"If you just give it time, Operation Rodeo-Clown will begin to make sense..."
No, nothing about WWIII or the danger of it, just what a tough time Obama is having. If a war is that important and worth fighting, it shouldn't have to be such a hard sell. If too many in the House cave, I am going to be furious.
Tonight it is Shelly Zimmerman says her husband is selfish, some man might have offed his 5th wife, 3 or more articles about Obama, the FL gay who seduced the underage teen re-established contact and is in bigger trouble. But that was a couple days ago and I skimmed over that one.
You do bring up a good point. You'd think these reporters and their families would be more concerned about high taxes, wars, and such. I think most are single, gay, both, weird, Marxist and a couple more things.
He persuaded no one. Those countries have probably already condemned the attacks which is what the limp-wristed international community deems a "strong response" these days. No one supports military strikes so he has nothing except his own hot air and some lapdogs in the media. yawn
It makes sense to Obama. He is using America to remove governments in the Middle East that will oppose a new caliphate. That’s their goal and Syria is the next in line to go under sharia. Something tells me alqaeda and the Muslim brotherhood will show back up in Egypt after they get Obama to help them with Syria.
We’re so screwed.
Yup.
What he's doing is trying to stir up more trouble, can't leave it alone. He loves to stir up trouble and cause conflict. Then he steps back and likes watching the mess he's made.
He is playing with fire and the lives of countless people, and if this goes against him, he will pout and get even with the American people and Congress. Punish us/them. That's what I'm afraid of anyway.
And while I'm at it, I think it's horrible Iran threatened his daughters. His girls could be traumatized for life as it's jihad and they are like elephants, have looooog memories, the Jihadists that is.
My daughter was talking to a military man who had deployed to Aghanistan. He told her bluntly we have to kill them because they can't be trusted. Then she met this woman who has a Muslim son named Koran. She's a Lutheran. I don't know if it is the same woman but one of the kids' fathers is a devil worshipper. I told her to stay away from any of that, the kid, the mom, all of it. I didn't know things had gotten so bad around here.
LOL, very few people would get that WOW reference. :)
