French unemployment rose for the first time above 3.0 million in the second quarter, but in a sign the upward trend is tailing off, the unemployment rate rose by only 0.1 percentage point to 10.5 percent, official data showed on Thursday.
The high level of young people without work (24.6%) is a particular concern for the left-wing government, which is focusing on raising competitiveness and reducing unemployment.
President François Hollande promised in July to reverse the rising trend of unemployment by the end of the year, saying that economic recovery was on the doorstep, but this was ridiculed by many economists at the time.

Hasn’t their Socialist president not learned from ours that you can dump millions out of the workforce to up the percentage working.? If only one person in the USA had a job, everyone else would be counted as dropping out of the workforce and Obama would crow about 0% unemployment.
