They infest FR.
Really reduce the level of conversation.
Are usually found calling Obama cute names: Obambi, etc.
Also go on and on and on about their grandchildren and what a good president Eisenhower was.
We’re all on the same team, brother...
Elderly kooky types, young firebrands, weathered warriors, seasoned citizens, radical republicans, libertarian lightning rods...(feel free to add to the epithet list)
At the end of the day, it’s US... all of us... against “them” on the other side.
And some of the “elderly” out here - a LOT of them - spent time fighting the ideological allies of the Democrats in Korea and Vietnam... so I think if they want to talk about their grandchildren out here, well, they earned it.
(For the record, I was too young for Ike!!! My first voting Presidential election was Reagan, and he set the bar which NO ONE else has come close to).
As opposed to know-it-all brats who ought to listen and learn from their elders? Those of us who are “elderly kooky types” know what our country used to be, and we want it back! Our country is being lost because people are content with their own little status quo world and refuse to see the bigger picture - that we have been the proverbial frog in the slowly boiling pot.
And, by the way, no one really cares how many degrees a person has, either. All they are is an indication that one can complete a task. It is no indication that knowledge was actually acquired.
I always wonder why those who don’t like it here on FR don’t just leave.
I always assumed the reason for that is because no one is actually convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt what his real name is. Is is Barack, Barry, Stevie, Dunham, Obama, Soetoro? - Who sent this unqualified, "ex" dope fiend cum Ice Cream scooper cum community rabblerouser cum "Constitutional Law Scholar" cum disbarred Slip and Fall lawyer . . . ?
“Are usually found calling Obama cute names: Obambi, etc.”
I’m guilty, sir! Sheesh, being an 07’ Stanford grad is old now? Let me grab my walking cane and beat those skateboard kids for being too noisy.
As an historian, you must realize by now that Eisenhower was not only a fairly good President especially compared to this one, but that the country has been on an progressively downward spiral since St. John, Holy Martyr of Hyannis stole the election of 1960, immediately plunging us into war (against Eisenhower's advice) on a "no-win" basis and a "celebrity" style of governance that has led us to ruin.
Culturally speaking, the older population of the country is quite diverse. Many can be forgiven for lamenting the ruin of a country that was a well-off and functional nation until quite recently in historical terms. Many of us are boring old farts, but I must say you show every sign of becoming "quod sum, tu eris" yourself.
