It is correct to tell a child that what they did was wrong or inappropriate. It is crippling to a child to condemn them, personally, rather than what they do.”

Exactly. See my previous post. :)
Sure- Let the ‘parents’ of the country keep raising feral animals who grow up into larger feral animals.
Neither yelling nor spanking is effective parenting.
The enforcement of clear and fair rules and consequences is.
And it is most effectively done in a calm voice without an emotional charge.
LOL. I want to do a study. Teens that are too lazy to do their chores, who drink, who goof off and get bad grades, all put their parents at risk for high blood pressure and heart attacks. What about that? These selfish teens are killing their parents by causing them to yell!!
They obviously never felt one of my hits.
(Just kidding, I’ve never hit my kids)
(Really...honest)
It's really sad. The little kids are innocent. Then a big loud mouth mother robs them and the not present baby daddy isn't’ there to protect them.
I believe the black problem starts at home.
My sister God rest her soul went through a phase when my niece was about 6 and acting out. She would repeat instructions to her in a monotonal voice over and over until she complied. Or at least that was the theme of the technique.
As we were all sweating to death in a Florida parking lot one day my niece was dancing around refusing to get into the car and my sister was doing the monotonal repetitious instruction procedure with zero results. All of a sudden as if in a Vulcan mind meld myself and my other sister turned and screamed “get in the car”. My niece leaped in the car sat down and off we went. To this day she is a well respected adult with no emotional scars that I can discern.
So no, yelling is not the same as hitting. A good yell once in a while gets their attention.
When I wanted my kids to really hear me, I talked softer.
Just stuff a joint in their mouth and load up the beeer bong. have a little party with your kids.. Connect,, party with them,, your kids will never forget ya ..
Studies that say yelling is like hitting are pure drivel.
The studiers should be confined to solitary Ivory Towers with no I Pads
If we can’t yell or holler at them, can we at least still lock them in the closet?
I suppose tazering is out, too.
How about a middle way? No trophies for everyone. No yelling at kids for being kids.
That might work. ;)
You've been a bad boy.
MASOCHIST: “Hit me, I beg you!”
SADIST: “NO!”
Kids will now threaten to call CPS and tell them you yelled.

Sometimes when you hear anger from an outside, disinterested source, it stings deeper and harder. “Hey, this isn’t just about my mom. It’s about me.”
