https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/District_of_Maine

The District of Maine was a legal designation for what is now the U.S. state of Maine from American independence until the Missouri Compromise on March 4, 1820, after which it gained its independence from Massachusetts and became the 23rd state in the Union.

They’re dead serious. They are that removed from reality. I see it all the time.

Back to the original article, the overall problem is a lack of subsidiarity, and too much dictating from the state and national capitals. We need to get back to our roots.

It is hoped that a favorable corporate tax rate, reasonable regulation, access to natural resources in abundance, a great healthy quality of life, a business-friendly credo and a spirit of entrepreneurialism will invite businesses currently leaving CA in droves to settle in the North State.

I might even say - Who is John Galt?

You said; “They are that removed from reality.”

Never mind your concept of reality ... cite the statute where they cannot do what they seek, not that I think it desirable. I and others just want to know what makes your proffer manifest.

Did you read the post I was replying to? Or did you think I was making that comment about something else entirely, as I suspect?

Yes I did review ... an abstract or obtuse response ... but I see nothing to change my post ... I sense a kindred spirit ... but ...

I was commenting on this post:

I hope this comment at the site was sarcasm. I fear not.

“NoBggrsPlz at 5:47 PM September 04, 2013 They’d starve. Not a single one of these redneck rural areas have a large enough tax base. They need funding from the larger, more populous liberal urban areas to survive. They are T-bagger socialists in the very worse way.”

My response was "They’re dead serious. They are that removed from reality. I see it all the time."

OK, nothing involving a statute there.

I also said "Back to the original article, the overall problem is a lack of subsidiarity, and too much dictating from the state and national capitals. We need to get back to our roots."

I say nothing there about illegalities, just that subsidiarity is a desired state that served us well most of our history. We have left it at our peril. I did not claim illegality, however.

You beat me to it! Effective secession is accomplished by massive nullification. If enough citizens band together and say “that law does not apply to us, what is the state going to do about it?.........lock up one million people!

You bet...CA has millions of conservatives that have just had a belly full of punitive controlling state government.

It’s not enough governemnt employees are gang banging the private sector economy to prop up their tax paid lottery style wages, benefits and retirements. They’ve circled the wagons to protect their little kingdoms and government unions...

It’s all comes to an end eventually...

The messages being sent are clear and very threatening to the bloated corrupt running the state.

You just know it’s only a matter of time until secession actually happens...They can’t keep looting and beating down the people and not expect these types of defensive actions.

Yes, you can secede from a state to form a new one... Needs approval of the US congress and the respective states affected, IIRC 2/3 majority.

As to standing up and being a conservative... IMO standing as a sheep and continuing to accept an untenable situation where your state government(s) continue(s) to flaunt your rights and freedoms is more akin to Socialism than Conservatism. Just my opinion, but conservatism isn't conducive to less personal rights and freedoms, a socialist nanny state, and big government. We could stand and wait until our bones fall to the dust... or move forward. After all... our founding fathers could have stood and took their untenable situation from the British... to the Brits, the Colonials, I am sure, were cutting and running... ;-)
