Obama and Congress: ‘Rolling the dice’ (Leading from Behind)
Politico ^ | September 2, 2013 | JONATHAN ALLEN

The stakes of the Syria vote couldn’t be higher for President Barack Obama: If Congress doesn’t back him up, his already troubled second term would be dealt another blow in the twin arenas of domestic and foreign politics.

(snip)

Some of Boehner’s colleagues in both parties read his moves as an indication that he would not stand in the president’s way in launching strikes. But Obama had grown frustrated with both international and domestic leaders who gave him tacit approval but declined to jump to his aid. He was taking all the risk and responsibility for a Syria strike, and he didn’t like it. Members of Congress were playing political games by asking him to consult with them but not taking on the accountability of voting with him or against him.

(snip)

Boehner could play a pivotal role for Obama, as he did in quietly abetting the president’s efforts to topple Muammar Qadhafi in Libya, by designing votes on the Syria authorization to ensure its best chance of passage in the House. But Obama’s surprise move to force an authorization vote struck some lawmakers, including at least one Democrat, as an odd way to repay Boehner for the favor on Libya. During that war, Boehner carefully managed floor debate in the House to allow members who were opposed to U.S. intervention there to let off steam without actually voting to stop the president’s continued conduct of American operations.

This is why an immature, man-child politician with zero real life experience in management gets duped every time. It is hard to follow a man-child who is actually waiting for somebody else to take the lead all the time. You have to credit the Brits and Frogs though, at least they pretended to follow the follower...

It’s not Boehner that Obama needs, it’s Putin, and unfortunately for obama, Putin has publicly said this position on Syria is “utter nonsense.”

Now consider Putin’s position. What can he do to make sure Obama’s boondoggle mission to Syria goes badly?

What can the bored kid in the back of the room do to you, let’s see...

Plenty!

Any Republican that votes to declare war on Syria and involve the United States in a Mideast conflict must be aggressively punished. There is no such thing as a “limited strike”.

Putin has promised “catastrophic consequences” for the US if it attacks Syria. Thus, he’s drawn his line in the sand too.

So, since you seem to be plugged in to what Putin is thinking, I’d ask you—What will Russia DO if the US fires some missiles at Syria?

Will Putin fire on US naval assets in the region? Or go bigger and launch a few of his rusty ICBMs at Omaha? Has Putin sounded out his own population on how they might feel about full-scale conflagration with the US?

How did Putin become the darling of FR?

Speaking of token military options, I wonder who told obama it was a good idea to open with pawn to f3.

Look at photos of twinkle toes throwing a baseball, riding a bike, or maybe the pathetic doctored photo of him shooting a shotgun.
Then look at photos of Putin riding a Harley, flyfishing a great stream or maybe shooting big game.
One is a man the other a 12 year old girl.

Putin learned the PR photo trick from W who learned it from the Gipper

Obama never learned any thing from any real person. It all came from theoretical treatises

The coming debate will be couched in terms like “We must support Obama to preserve America’s credibility.”

We should make the argument that America’s credibility should not be at stake over the ‘red line’ error of a tyro in foreign policy.

You don’t compound an error of an incompetent President by going to war and wasting American blood and treasure.

Because in Russia, they don’t celebrate Sodomites and cross-dressers like we do here.

I mean geez, they actually now do call that thing “Chelsea Manning” for crying out loud.

Whereas Obama denies that America is a Christian nation

"Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven."
