IN 1943 when Noreen Riols was just shy of 18 she decided to join the Wrens for the simple reason that they had "better hats".
Her ambition was short-lived, however, as Noreen who speaks fluent French, was deemed far more useful elsewhere.
She was immediately dispatched to London's Baker Street and the headquarters of SOE (Special Operations Executive). Here she was signed up to SOE, known as Churchill's secret army.
She would join F-Section (the F stood for France), which was led by Colonel Maurice Buckmaster (known as "Buck"), in a vital role helping to train agents to support the French Resistance fighting for the Allies.

Noreen Riols today
Is that Noreen? Great find. Pretty lady.
Julia Child was a spy for the Americans during WWII. And Hedy Lamar invented an electronic device for the war effort.
Yes that is her.
The Military Channel ran a couple of stories about SOE. One of the programs was about a British lady that ran spies in France. Her organisation was penetrated by the Germans and she lost most of her girls.
There are the remains of a beautiful woman about her....
Actually Childs was not a “spy”. She joined the OSSC in 1942 and was a clerk in the Washington office. In 1944 she was posted to the OSS office in Ceylon as a clerk. Later she was sent to the OSS office in Chunking China, still a clerk.
It’s kinda funny, as a card carring Geezer Freeper we seem to be able to look through the wrinkles and gray hair, she’s still a beauty.
She’s lying! ;-)
Women being TAUGHT to lie? Most pick it up quite naturally.
Men are pretty good liar role models.
Now
BTW she worked under Fleming then Bond!
Bond, James Bond ;>)
