So Assad is bad, but Al Qaeda taking over Syria is MUCH worse.
Remember when Carter supported the Muslim cleric and allowed them to get rid of the Shah, who was our friend and wanted to bring his country into the 20th century look at Iran now. That is a direct result of Carters policies.
Then-President Carter's complicity in the toppling of the Shah of Iran was one of the greatest tragedies of the twentieth century. True, the shah was oppressive--a mere dictator--but he was, at least, pro-Western and (more importantly) pro-American; which is precisely the opposite of what may be said for any of his successors.
Egypt's Mubarak, likewise, was a dictator; but he managed to cobble together a peace agreement with Israel--a peace agreement that the Muslim Brotherhood surely has never had any intention of honoring--and he was, at least, pro-American...
