(Reuters) - Aetna Inc, the No. 3 U.S. health insurer, said on Thursday it has decided not to sell insurance on New York's individual health insurance exchange, part of the country's healthcare reform.

New York is the fifth state where Aetna has pulled its application to sell the plans that go on sale on October 1 and into effect on January 1, 2014. It has also reversed course in Maryland, Ohio, Georgia, and Connecticut, where it is based.

THINGS ARE ALL GOING ACCORDING TO PLAN

Step #1 (the most important step,by far),drive private health insurers and HMOs out of business by squeezing revenues and by enacting 10,000 pages of new regulations.

If that's reform, I'd sure as [fill in the blank] hate to run into a national disaster.

I don’t see this as bad news.

I have heard that the “Health Insurance Exchanges” are the Achille’s Heel of Obamacare.

What if no providers enroll in the exchanges? (I know...the ones that DID enroll would get some kind of sweet deal from the government for doing so, and sell their souls accordingly...probably a subsidy)

“I don’t see this as bad news.”

I don’t either. We know that FUBO wants single payer, but he has to get a single payer law passed , which I believe would be improbable ( it would be impossible if you could really trust the GOPe). So the whole of FUBOCare may well fail on this issue alone. The one or two insurance companies that my be in FUBO’s pocket won’t want to have “all the business.”

What if no providers enroll in the exchanges?”

The exchange will close its doors and the participants will go to government single payer plan. This was Obama’s and Pelosi’s goal in the first place - shut down all the commercial carriers and end up with one government controlled plan.

Aetna has also pulled out of some of their plans in California. Maybe wasn’t mentioned in this article because I don’t believe it involved exchange type plans, just regular insurance.

Ain’t OBAMANATION great?

BTW, B. Hussein Obama, aka Barry Soetoro, could never have succeeded so quickly with the help of his BFFs John “jellyfish spine” Boehner and “Continuing Financial Resolution” McConnell.

Hard to say it ISN’T bad news.

It DOES further what Obama wants, which is to drive private insurers out of the business of health insurance.

How else are health insurers to make money if not on health policies? That is what they do. The government is trying to mandate and regulate them to their own destruction. They can run, but they can’t hide, from the monster Obamacare.

To say that Obama has to get single payer passed, and he can’t?

Obama is lawless. If people have no health insurance, even people who HAD it but lose it, much less people who never did, and if the individual mandate stays and the GOP-E continues to fund, I don’t see what stops Obama/Sebelius from stepping in and doing whatever they want.

And there’s no way to predict with certainty that the Boehner-Cantor-McCarthy-McMorris Rodgers led House will stay in place. They are destroying the political will of their base to keep THEM there. If they stay, there’s no way to predict with certainty that they wouldn’t go along with some fig-leaf scheme to give people health insurance after the private companies disappear.

It’s actually a pretty smart business plan ... Let all the “pre-existing condition” patients enroll first, then come in next year and join the exchange.

What makes you think they have to participate in the exchanges in order to sell policies?

There are lots of people who will not be part of the exchanges.

I cannot wait to see the unemployment rate after all these big insurance providers close their doors if this fiasco lives. You get what you vote for.

I think that in a rational and logical world, it would not be a bad thing if nobody came to the game with a ball, but I agree that these are not rational and logical times, so I find id difficult to disagree with your post.

THAT is very discouraging.
