Columnist Sees ‘Racism’in Miley Cyrus’ Twerking ‘Minstrel Act’

Here is a theory: the linguistic and rhetorical devices that serve as passwords granting access into the modern academic speakeasy are employed more ostentatiously as the institution of social scholarship loses stature. Institutions of all stripes are held in increasingly low regard by the majority of Americans, but the decline of the general prestige of academia is especially lamentable. (Snip) The media universe is today equal parts enthralled and appalled by the dancing of 20-year-old Miley Cyrus. The political right and left, those with young and impressionable children at least, are disturbed and/or disappointed in the former child starlet because

Comments: At least one genius finds racism. No kidding. You´ll have to read the article as it´s too convoluted to synopsize in the intro.

She sang a "black" song and did "black" dancing, therefore she's racist. Blacks did the the same to Elvis Presely. They said he was racist for singing black music and doing black dancing.

“These people would see racism in black soot.”

And black holes, blackboards, blacklists, blackjacks, etc., etc., etc.

If black America wants to jealously claim Miley’s act as their own, then black culture has officially hit rock bottom. They, like everyone else, should be running away from it.

My wife is black (her term), my daughter is black, and all the relatives on my wife's side of the family are black. We are all Christians, and I'm the only white Christian male in the family.

Most of them saw miss Miley do her thing. So, I asked them all, “Was there anything racist about Miley’s performance?”

They looked at me as if I just exited an alien spacecraft, then almost in unison, they said, “Huh?. They were incredulous that anyone could see racism in her performance. Not one of them saw any racism of any kind being on display.

Being a racist blinds people, this journalist saw what she wanted to see. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

I had a black subordinate tell me that devil’s food cake is racist. ;-)

When you believe racism is everywhere, that’s where you’ll find it.

And yes, THAT is a great tag line for someone.

so what is ‘twerking’ supposed to be short for, “tw@t working”? Cause that sure seems to me that’s what they’re doing.

Another article here described twerking as “rump-busting.”
It sounds more ghey than ghetto. Miley’s old man making
his little girl shake her moneymaker. Good old Dad!

I worked my way through all the links to get to the original vulture being cited.

I have a similar theory about this.

MTV was born in 1981 with TV commercials ‘call your cable provider and shout I want my MTV’

For the first few years (5 to 10) it presented a wholesome view of rock videos to white middle class kids, I remember it being on at my college union center all day and being very popular with white college kids (not a lib arts school either) . Example A : cutie girl next door Martha Quinn.

About a decade or so later something happened, it got darker and sleazier and more liberal, rock the vote.

My theory is that cable finally extended through the cities, something it took more time to do given it required separate cables and massive infrastructure changes compared to houses in suburbs .

Then then wrong people overwhelmed the music business with money.
And it became the cesspool it is today promoting crap to America’s children.

Cyrus was right on the MTV winning theme. Racism? She gives them what they demand.

MTV actually took some hits in its first two years that it was “too white” I remember those early years, the VJs, the great music/videos. Michael Jackson’s Thriller broke the ice as I recall the history. But IMO MTV got slammed as did music lovers evrywhere when music died by the end of the 80s and “rap” took over. NO doubt MTV helped push the slease and decay, and you are right, it’s a shadow of its former self. I don’t know anyone who watches it.

Music has unfortunately declined to where kids today can’t begin to appreciate it like older generations. Cyrus is just the latest of the shock factor sleaze that doesn’t care about anyone but the PR and hopefully $$$ that follows. Look at that slut WhoreDonna ....no one wants her, she’s trash and that is how Cyrus will wind up.

I’ve never heard any black person calling Elvis a racist. I have heard them bttching about how he stole black artists’ material and pretending it was his own.

I appreciate that.
You are right and I forgot about that. The lib MSM complained that MTV was too white which unfortunately meant too moderate and too much mainstream wholesome values.

Criticism is also a reason why it degraded, but I still believe the main reason was who could watch it in early 1980s.

Upstate NY got cable in mid 1970s.

NYC got it in mid 1980s ~ ten years later mainly because it was expense to wire it in cities compared to houses with all above ground utilities,

That is when I first noticed differences in programming I didn’t like, but I still liked it then. 1990s forget it.

Some Eminem lyrics here from his song Without Me ". . . everybody only wants to discuss me

So this must mean I'm disgusting, but its just me I'm just obscene

Though I'm not the first king of controversy

I am the worst thing since Elvis Presley, to do Black Music so selfishly

and use it to get myself wealthy (Hey)

there's a concept that works

20 million other white rappers emerge

but no matter how many fish in the sea it'd be so empty without me"

“I’ve never heard any black person calling Elvis a racist.”

I heard that mentioned sometime in the last year. I’m not sure if it was on talk radio or the Internet. I was thinking that was just a crazy, attention-seeking, young moron saying that. There was some comments also about Elvis singing “In the Ghetto” and making money off of that.

I didn’t see it, but I read some of things about it. I am not sure Miley is smart enough to understand it, but I can definitely see the racism. She had black female attendants dressed as teddy bears and she was slapping their rear ends, fondling them, and simulating vulgar activities on them. Comments prior to this indicate she has some bizarre fetishes about black people. Among other problems she has.

Oh, please. A lot of the worst stuff on MTV was done by white people, including Madonna. And a lot of their worst TV shows were with white people, including Beavis and Butthead (done by white people).
