Norquist: Don’t let Limbaugh, Levin moderate 2016 debates
The Hill ^ | August 28, 2013 | Blake Neff

Posted on 08/28/2013 1:54:19 PM PDT by Timber Rattler

Grover Norquist is strongly opposed to letting conservative talk show hosts moderate the 2016 Republican presidential primary debates.

Norquist, a conservative leader who heads the anti-taxation Americans for Tax Reform, told The Hill Tuesday the Republican Party should instead incorporate Republican officeholders into its debate format.

Having conservative talk radio hosts Mark Levin or Rush Limbaugh host debates would be “not useful,” Norquist told The Hill. Talk radio hosts, he said, are primarily entertainers who would draw attention away from the candidates themselves.

He also said the radio hosts, despite their popularity, did not necessarily represent the Republican mainstream. He pointed toward immigration reform as an example, saying that while Levin opposes comprehensive immigration reform fiercely, polls show most Republicans are amenable to it.

Rush has said the same thing, that he would draw too much attention to himself.

Norquey probably would prefer that CAIR types be the debate “moderators”.

Don't have a moderator at all.

Have a list of prepared questions that they respond to.

All you need is somebody to read them and STFU.

If a candidate cannot shine regardless of who is on the stage with them, they are a poor candidate.

This should be about who will ask intelligent questions. Republican officeholders are unlikely, and in most cases unable, to do so.

I’d kind of like to see Michael Savage as the debate moderator, and have him make a mockery of all the clowns for who they are. Frankly, I’d have no debates at all since they’re often little more than charades. I’m voting for Ted Cruz or Rand Paul in that order as the ballot permits, and if neither of those two are in contention — whether on the Republican, libertarian or some other party ticket — on primary and general election days, then I’m sitting the whole thing out. I just don’t have the stomach any more to listen to the Dems or the Rinos at debate time.

Well said 2. Grover Norquist is married to a muslim and founder of the islamic institute. He is an agenda setter, lobbyist, policy maker and overall heavy hitter for the American soil based muslim/islamic terrorist front group, C.A.I.R. Hey maybe old Grover could be a Repub. debate moderator!!! (He is a longtime NRA board member.....that might count for something!)
