he Five opened its show Tuesday afternoon by looking ahead to tomorrows speech by President Obama, marking the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.s I Have a Dream speech at the 1963 March on Washington. The conservative hosts were attempting to place blame on the president for how little racial progress the country has made since Kings day when Bob Beckel jumped in and began attacking all those crackers in the south who want to prevent African-Americans from voting.
Eric Bolling began listing statistics, showing that blacks are six times more likely to be incarcerated in federal prison and be a victim of homicide than whites. He noted that during Obamas first four and half years, youth unemployment among African-Americans went from 34.5% to 41.5%.
From there, Beckel steered the conversation to voting rights, saying the reason liberals care about voter ID laws is because theres a bunch of crackers in the south. He couldnt get out the rest of his point, because all four of his co-hosts jumped all over him for the use of that controversial term to describe white people. Soon he was imploring them to shut up so he could get through his statement.
Ill shut up if you take back the cracker comment, Bolling told him. I know you didnt mean it. He later said he was trying to give his co-host an out for a term thats offensive like the n-word.
Instead of taking it back, Beckel doubled down, saying, In the counties, in certain parts of Texas and North Carolina where these new voting ID laws will disenfranchise blacks, they are crackers. He made sure everyone understand that he was not calling everyone in the south crackers but rather just the people from the counties in question that are trying to impose voting restrictions.
If anybody thats for voter ID is a cracker, Greg Gutfeld argued, then that makes a lot of black people crackers.
Youre all friends of mine, I know you love me, and youre trying to protect me because I made a statement about that, Beckel responded. But he insisted that he would continue to say this because he believes that without voter registrationany impediment on it to voting by blacks is a substantial foundation for black success in this country.
The Supreme Court doesnt agree with your facts, Bob, Kimberly Guilfoyle told him, referring to their recent decision on the matter. The Supreme Court said your facts are out of date.
This Supreme Courts out of date, Beckel responded.
It's enough to listen to him constantly pine about his good old doper days, his sneaky democrat tricks, his brushes with the law and liberals rioting in the streets.
But every time he gets worked up over conservatives he falls back on calling people "Crackers".
He has done it before and FOX lets it slide.
Today is the last straw as far as I am concerned.
I do feel he represents the liberals well and accurately - I just don't care to hear his oafish comments and name calling anymore.
It seems to be consistent that Beckel takes his medication every other day and he has real easy triggers, every White person but him is either a racist or just does not like Black people.
He finally rants and raves about the evils of Islam...soon the scales will fall off his eyes about the finer issues of race in America circa 2013.
Though my experience is that old dogs can learn plenty of new tricks (even faster that young dogs), Beckel is the kind of dog the adage was written for.
The "soft bigotry of low expectations" is a vicious, hard-to-kill penchant in the Left.
Anyone who doesn’t is a liar and a cheat.
ratings ratings ratings....
Beckel’s cracker comment and others by him bring in the ratings and face time for Beckel on BOR show and other Fox shows
Would you rather hear Juan Williams and his mouth??
He should know hunks of dough very well seeing that he's a big, pasty custard bismark.
Leni
the minute I saw beckel on the five I turned it off and never tuned it in again.
I only want to deprive people of more than one vote.
The ONLY reason to oppose Voter ID laws, is to back and promote VOTE FRAUD!
There is NO evidence that requiring Voter ID, suppresses any indivual’s ability to vote.
The biggest problem is that Republicans are too cowardly to make that point.
I have never nor will I ever watch that program as long as Beckel is on it!
Fox needs to fire this racist gas bag.
“Would you rather hear Juan Williams and his mouth??”
Bob Beckel is 100x better. He is good as the liberal counterpoint to the other 4 who are all conservative. I like Andrea Tantaros.
Juan is an idiot and unwatchable, he makes me change the channel or mute.
Don't give up on Beckel.
He's about the finest liberal stooge Fox can find ... to profile, define and show millions how bigoted, slanted, and vile the American left can be.
Now you can watch “Special Ed” at that time
I thought Gutfield (sp?) slammed him badly on “republican dirty tricks such as Vince Foster” when he pointed out that they originated with Democrats. Beckel looked like he swallowed a frog.
Wish bob would be forced to explain how requiring ID for getting a paycheck, bank account, passport, food stamps, disability, etc isn’t also racist
Name the counties, Bob. Should be easy.
