This will end very badly.

It’s World War One; there’s thirteen million killed; it was all because the militaries of both alliances believed they were so highly attuned to one another’s movements and dispositions, they could predict one another’s intentions, but all their theories were based on the last war. And the world and technology had changed, and those lessons were no longer valid, but it was all they knew, so the orders went out, couldn’t be rescinded. And your man in the field, his family at home, they couldn’t even tell you the reasons why their lives were being destroyed.

And here we are 100 years later, we haven't learned a damn thing.

Exactly! Events can quickly unravel and move in a direction that no one can foresee, like the Cuban missile crises and the Vietnam war.

I disagree. If any such action happens it will be a non-event -— by design. Obama knows he can’t do much. He is hemmed in. This is a ploy to make it appear he is doing something. so he lobs a few cruise missiles. Nothing happens except more talk blah blah blah.

You make very good points. Sound lessons from history.

As a matter of fact, I just started reading Winston Churchill’s account of World War I about a week ago. It’s a large book so I may not finish it until after World War III ends. I just hope I don’t get nuked before I find out who wins WWI(Sarc). Nonetheless, the pre WWI era closely resembles our current era.
