London, Jan 30 (ANI): The Obama administration gave green signal to a chemical weapons attack plan in Syria that could be blamed on President Bashar al Assad's regime and in turn, spur international military action in the devastated country, leaked documents have shown.

A new report, that contains an email exchange between two senior officials at British-based contractor Britam Defence, showed a scheme 'approved by Washington'.

As per the scheme 'Qatar would fund rebel forces in Syria to use chemical weapons,' the Daily Mail reports.

The scary thing is that I, a pro-American Jingoist, can actually believe that the current administration would do this in order to topple Assad and impose an MB dominated government on Syria.

Exactly. As I slap myself and say, "Self...get those thoughts out of your head. The o has more integrity than that."

Then Self says, "Who are you kidding?"

Many people have seen the Syrian situation as similar to the pre-WWI situation: a powderkeg with great powers lurking off stage as small struggles get out of hand.

Add this to the thinking:

The Zimmermann Telegram (or Zimmermann Note) was a 1917 diplomatic proposal from the German Empire for Mexico to join the Central Powers, in the event of the United States entering World War I on the side of the Entente Powers. The proposal was intercepted and decoded by British intelligence. Revelation of the contents outraged American public opinion and helped generate support for the United States declaration of war on Germany in April of that year.

What must Russia think of our collusion with Qatar and the use of chemical weapons in a nefarious plot to overthrow a Russian ally? Obama is playing the part of Kaiser Wilhem.

There is no integrity left in the Federal Government.
BushII was not a good president, but he had a lot more integrity than Clinton, or Obama or any of his opponents.
Sometimes I think we’re in the “Five Good Emperors” period of Rome - Reagan, Bush I, Bush II, and two more, hopefully, to be named. Then the fall.

When you search Daily Mail for Britam Defence the following is the only link available:

Britam Defence, David Goulding and Philip Doughty PUBLISHED: 17:59 GMT, 18 April 2013 | UPDATED: 17:59 GMT, 18 April 2013

An article on 29 January reported allegations on the internet that the US Government had backed a plot to launch a chemicals weapons attack in Syria and blame it on the Assad regime.

The reports made reference to an email said to have been from David Goulding, the Business Development Director of Britam Defence, to company founder, Philip Doughty. The email had been published on the internet after Britam’s computer system was illegally hacked in Singapore. It referred to a proposal that Britam would deliver chemical weapons to Syria for enormous financial reward and suggested that the directors were willing to consider the illegal proposal.

We now accept that email was fabricated and acknowledge there is no truth in any suggestion that Britam or its directors were willing to consider taking part in such a plot, which may have led to an atrocity. We apologise to each of them and have agreed to pay substantial damages.

-------------

Note the fact that the article in the mail appeared 29 January 2013.

In all it appears very much like the kind of dezinformatia that used to be spread by the Soviets and their allies during the Cold War. Unfortunately, just as many posters have noted, the present US administration has earned such a bad reputation that even the fact that Daily Mail has retracted the article does not totally convince one that the Obama WH does not have a finger in the pie.

The one reason for disbelieving that this is in any way planned by the WH is the fact that the administration appears to be totally unprepared, and has not figured out how to handle the situation.

That doesn't necessarily argue against the possibility that the White House has been planning this for 8 months. ;)

In case you are interested here is a follow up. The firm Britam Defence suffered a data hack in early January. Confidential files were leaked. Amongst files such as CV:s, contracts etc was this e-mail:

Email between David Goulding who is the Business Development Director and Philip regarding a new offer about an operation in syria.

Phil

We’ve got a new offer. It’s about Syria again. Qataris propose an attractive deal and swear that the idea is approved by Washington. We’ll have to deliver a CW to Homs, a Soviet origin g-shell from Libya similar to those that Assad should have. They want us to deploy our Ukrainian personnel that should speak Russian and make a video record. Frankly, I don’t think it’s a good idea but the sums proposed are enormous. Your opinion?

Kind regards

David

The story, including the files, are available at Cyberwarnews.

The author of the piece on the site, Lee J, correctly notes "In the hackers release note they made it clear they got the data from a Malaysian based server and from a chart found within this data its shocking to see that Britam is using the security of McAfee but is not implementing this on the said server which is listed as a mail server. Its also clear that Britam does not practice data security very well as they have been storing user credentials, network information in unencrypted formats."

Nevertheless, it is very unlikely that anyone, however inept regarding computer security, would post information of this kind in an unencrypted mail.

I haven't been able to find how (or if) Britam Ltd were able to show that the e-mail was a forgery but they must have since the Daily Mail was taken to court and eventually paid out a + £100 000 in libel settlement.

Sadly, you may be right. :(
It is truly amateur night all day long at the Obama WH. The one question one has to ask, though; how come the GOP lost to this guy, twice over??
