Limbaugh To Remain On Cumulus Stations; Except New York
Radio Insight ^ | 8/23/13 | Radio Insight

Posted on 08/23/2013 10:22:39 AM PDT by raccoonradio

At the beginning of his program today Rush Limbaugh announced that he has signed a three year extension to keep his program on Cumulus owned stations across the country. That includes 890 WLS Chicago, 820/96.7 WBAP Dallas, 630/105.9 WMAL Washington, and 760 WJR Detroit.

The one exception to that will be in New York, where Limbaugh will move from Cumulus’ 770 WABC to Clear Channel’s 710 WOR on January 1, 2014.

It is expected that Sean Hannity will depart Cumulus’ stations at the end of the year and be replaced by Michael Savage in the 3-6pm daypart.

More details as they become available.

Now it's official...I know one market where the Cumulus station, WPRO 630 (Prov RI) has all local hosts and the Clear Channel-owned WHJJ 920 airs Rush and Sean.

Also WMAL AM as well. Look for Rush to go to WOR AM, Clear Channel down the road.

I don’t know how they win replacing angry with angrier.

Reports of Rush’s death once again, to the liberal’s dismay, are greatly exaggerated.

tweet from Matt Haze:
>>Limbaugh and Hannity moving from 77 WABC to 710 WOR in New York. You think Clear Channel spent $30 million for WOR just for fun?

Well, I'm in NY. I keep my radio on 770, where I've been able to catch Rush, Sean, Mark, Aaron Klein, etc. Now you're telling me I'm gonna have to jump between 710 and 770? What a pain. Why is Rush moving to 710?

Sean Hannity seems like a real nice guy, a real family type, but he is boring. If I missed a month of Sean Hannity radio shows and then tuned back in, I wouldn't have missed a thing, because he keeps having the same guests on over and over and keeps hammering at the same topics.

The only change that's going to happen is that on January 1st we are going to leave WABC and move to WOR in New York. My syndication partner is Clear Channel Communications, and they own WOR, and so we're gonna go to our own radio station in New York. And this has been mutually agreed to.

Straight from the website.

Cumulus would rather have you hear the exciting Mike Huckabee I guess...They also syndicate Don Imus, Geraldo, Mark Levin,
and Savage (who would be on WABC I’d think)

Savage is currently on WABC. He used be on in Levin's spot, moved to WOR, disappeared for a while (I think - I might have just forgotten he existed while he was still on) and came back to WABC after Levin, who always called him "Weiner",

I'll likely flip over to 710 and leave it there, or checkout 970 during the commercials.

When I was a kid living in Jersey circa early 60s, I used to listen to Cousin Brucie on “77 WABC”. Also Murray The K on “10-10 WINS New York”.

Yes, after he left TalkRadioNetwork (after a legal battle) he got signed by Cumulus, the former ABC Radio, which owns WABC (Clear channel, syndicator of Rush & Hannity etc., owns
WOR now) and Savage was saying at Cumulus talk stations he will get Hannity’s slot. It’s possible WABC may opt for
Cumulus’ Mike Huckabee at noon followed by Savage at 3
while WOR takes Rush and Sean (Levin is also a Cumulus
show).

When Savage disappeared for awhile Boston’s WRKO (Entercom) chose to start running Levin (who had been at Greater Media’s WTKK and Clear Channel’s WXKS before; both stations have since changed formats). Yeah, 970 is the one that
picked up Curtis Sliwa awhile back and now runs him,
Dennis Miller, Mike Gallagher, Dennis Praeger, etc. Sounds like WNYM is probably owned by Salem Communications, a religious broadcaster that also runs conservative talk
(when they did THAT in Boston, they later decided to do Spanish language religion...)

I like Mark Levin. I can take Imus in measured quantities. But Whorealdo and Huckabee mean switching channels or turning off the radio. Smarmy & boring are they, respectively. Savage is newly ON 770, which is WABC. Sometimes Savage is funny or correct on political matters. Many times he is a baal giva (full of himself; overly self-praising and vain, in Hebrew), which really turns me off. Despite his apparent monetary success, he must really be insecure underneath it all, that he feels the need to name names and put down other talk show hosts, or praise himself on having a certain ability.
