OK I need some help here. There is XX and XY. Where and how do the others come into play? My understanding has always been you have a Hermaphrodite with whichever/both organs, but the actual genetics base to one of the two...male or female.

And that the ‘confusion’ came pre genetic science.

XXY is a rare condition, but it happens. The story says the child chooses. How can an infant child choose?

What others are there?
Well, there is XY with malfunctioning SRY gene on Y
There is XY with malfunctioning AR gene on X
There is XXY

And last of all there is F.... which is your grade in human biology.
