The story says the child chooses. How can an infant child choose?

The choice is deferred. I don't know to what age.

Well, there is XY with malfunctioning SRY gene on Y
There is XY with malfunctioning AR gene on X
There is XXY

And last of all there is F.... which is your grade in human biology.
