A massive weekend raid netted several hundred illegal immigrants who were either car wash workers or customers in Phoenix, according to immigrant-rights groups who say the move highlights the ongoing tensions within President Obamas deportation policy.
Even as Capitol Hill lawmakers debate whether to move on an immigration bill this year, many immigrant-rights advocates are lobbying Mr. Obama to halt all deportations, and they have picked several cases to make a stand.
Just last week, activists in Ohio demanded a halt to the deportation of a man whose son suffers from cerebral palsy. The Obama administration complied, granting him a one-year stay.
With Congress on vacation, the immigration debate has shifted away from Washington and to the home districts of House lawmakers, and to Republicans in particular, who are wrestling with how to tackle the issue.
GOP leaders in the House have signaled theyll try to have legislation on the chamber floor in October, and will take up a series of bills, including improving border security and interior enforcement, rewriting the legal immigration system and at least some effort at legalizing young adult illegal immigrants.
Mr. Obama and fellow Democrats, though, have said an explicit path to citizenship for most of the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. is a non-negotiable ingredient for any bill to clear Congress.
Some Republicans have embraced it, but most appear to be saying they agree with parts of it, but want to see the House go its own route.

I was at a high school car wash fund-raiser yesterday and it was packed with teens washing cars.
Illegals working at car wash businesses are stealing jobs from Americans.
I thought they were only in jobs “no one wants.”
Doesn’t Mexico have hospitals? Is the administration saying the the Mexican doctors are two stupid to treat people with cerebral palsy?
So, yet another law which Obama will choose not to enforce and this time, the GOPe will cheer him the whole way (not that they do anything effective when he breaks laws or doesn’t enforce them anyway). WHY are they so helpless and prostrate before this man? Why is seemingly everyone in the world, with a very few exceptions such as Vladimir Putin, seemingly prostrate before this man, who has no apparent intrinsic strength or power in his own character? He is a nothing and a nobody without the trappings of office, yet grown and powerful people grovel before him. Why? Are they really that afraid of his pigmentation?
Workin-at-the-carwash PING
Obama keeps up the cover so Rubio/Boehner/Ryan/Cantor can claim that Obama will enforce the law if a new one is passed.
Victory should have been close at hand......what with the Dems beating the issue to death like they were swatting cuckaraches in their dinners.......,and vote-crazed Obumster sucking-up like it was his last joint.
Cackle-—not even close. The longer the issue twists in the wind, the more we see that America sides with the GOP ......does not bode well for Dems chances in 2014 midterms.
Mmmmmm.....sure would like to see Dem internal polls. Crucial midterms loom..... Obama’s approval ratings sink-—he’s down to 41%....and more and more congressmen and senators are scared to death to get on-board.
BTW..... where’s the massive “latino civil-rights type” marches Schmuckie Schumer threatened Repubs with if they didn’t shape up?
And when aThird World mealymouthed Cong Gutierrez says, “We (meaning the Third World) got the votes,” you know img/reform is goin’ down in flames.
Isn’t it odd that Dems can’t seem to grab onto a message that resonates with the public these days....even w/ all that “magic” in the WH?
ROTFLOL
Yes. The liberal media never had any hair. Too many hairless Americans follow said media.
THAT is why this site is so important...lotsa hair.
“immigrant-rights group”= accessories after the fact
The foreign criminals, incarcerated or running loose, get free health care.
You and I get to pay for it all.
Dang, that’s where we get our cars washed. I hope they don’t close.
FUBO, and all of your sycophants..
And another great big FU to all of the RINOS/CINOS that support this Nation destroying crap.
tooks 5 times to check and make sure I didn’t double-post..

...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.
Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.
Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.
Lets start that conversation by acknowledging we arent going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.
If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...
This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.
Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.
[but he’s not against amnesty, snicker, definition of is is ping]
