Salena Zito doesn't do "top down politics". But she sure has a knack for "grassroots up politics".
She does her homework, asks the right questions...and must be a very good listener.
There are literally thousands of Indian Heads -- all over the country, in all those red counties out there.
While the National Republican Party might be a mass of quivering gelatin, the State parties are where Republican strength is concentrated...and growing.
One of these days, a state party (Texas?) is going to tell the national party to shove it -- and go their own (conservative) way. All of a sudden, another ten-to-twelve state parties will join the insurrection...and the national party (i.e., the GOP-e) will cease to be.
