Makhaela Jenkins is being banned from football by an Ohio school district.
An Ohio school district is refusing to let a seventh-grade girl play football, prompting requests that the board change its policies on female athletes.
Liberty Union-Thurston District superintendent Paul Mathews said the longstanding policy doesn't violate any gender-related regulations, because the district offers girls other, non-contact athletic options.

I think a lot of these types of problems are caused by families having only one child. The mother wanted a daughter and the father wanted a son. So, they try to make both out of their only child.
Why do girls want to play sports with guys anyway? I can see auto racing or tennis, whatnot, but full contact sports?
Think of how ridiculous some of the asexual ranting of the Left appears in an historic perspective. The calls to boycott the Russian Olympics, this very day, because Russia has decided to protect children from being recruited for asexual practices! Consider this case, where a girl, perhaps just emerging as a sexually developed female, perhaps only nearing that moment; being used as a guinea pig to attack a policy that in virtually any human age, would have been seen as entirely consistent with her own best interests.
We are being thrust down the rabbit hole with Alice, and the mainstream media is too complicit to even discuss the "issue" from a rational perspective!

I don’t think there’s anything wrong, per se, with a girl’s wanting to play football. However, unless she’s that one-in-ten-million girl who is as big and strong as boys in her age group, it’s insane.
If she wants to do something insanely dangerous, she could try ski-jumping, stunt-biking, or rodeo.
The gal in the photo appears to be quite small. If she were built like Janet Reno, it might be different : )
There were some BIG guys playing football at my old jr.HS. I wouldn’t want my daughter tackled by one of them, let alone 2 or 3.
Many girls do. But they should form their own league for reasons of safety and for the benefit of the other players.

Something like certain standards for height, weight, BMI, and fat/muscle ratio.
A healthy girl, to stay healthy, needs a certain amount of body fat, because adipose tissue is a major endocrine organ, producing hormones such as leptin and estrogen. If a female's % of fat goes down too far, she starts getting some of the same kind of symptoms as menopause, e.g. not only a cessation of ovulation and menses, but also demineralization of the bones, which would make things VERY risky for a girl in a contact sport.
Any sports physiologists out there? What should the metrics be?
First pile-on after a tackle and the school board will be facing sexual assault lawsuits for groping. Or someone will file a hostile workplace environment (the shower room - locker room) lawsuit.

Good grief! Football is a contact sport and girls are not built for that! Heck, most BOYS are not built for it. Just ask any coach in a small high school. That’s why they invented six-man football.

That’s why I told my daughter that she would NOT play football when she asked. Never mind that she WOULD have made the varsity high school team. She would have been an uninvited target of every other player. That is too much for a 16YO; she would have concentrated on football to the exclusion of her scholaria.
Agree. Lots of girls are die-hard football fans. It doesn't mean they should be on the field.
This is another one of those stupid local stories nobody would've ever heard about, except that the 24-hour newsertainment industry needs filler.
