George Zimmerman trial cost Seminole $91K, county says

The trial of George Zimmerman cost Seminole County government about $91,000, officials said in a statement Friday.

Zimmerman's high-profile second-degree-murder trial in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin began June 10 and concluded July 13 with a not-guilty verdict.

During the trial, Seminole County handled the "coordination of resources and planning," through its Emergency Operations Center, county spokesman Alan Harris said.

According to Harris, the EOC's role included "public information, safety, liaison, logistics, planning, intelligence" and other operations.

Its efforts were spearheaded by a team of fire-rescue, facility management, information technology, utilities, economic development and public works staff, as well as law enforcement, he said.

"While the exact costs are still being recorded, Seminole County Government response to the trial, including all support and logistics, is estimated at $ 91,000," Harris said in Friday's statement.

Last month, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office released a preliminary estimate of its trial costs: about $320,000, including "overtime, equipment, other trial-related expenses."

The cost of sequestering the Zimmerman jury was estimated at an additional $33,000, also according to the Sheriff's Office.

They got a bargain -- and think of all the good publicity it brought in and the cover it provided a gang of crooks as they shook down a local Home Owners Association.

LOL, it was a pittance, compared to what Trayvon’s mother got out of it, and the $$$$ just keeps flowing in.

Is that $320K per the Sheriffs in addition to the 91K? I’d think that would ultimately be an expense of the county as well.

Are they going to have to reimburse Zimmerman?

Not counting what they could end up having to pay Zimmerman by the time MOM is finished with the prosecutors.

They should send the bill to the racist Samford city manager who insisted (at the price of the police chief’s job) that Zimmerman be charged.

They need to pay Zimmerman’s lawyer fees for the absurd case they tried against him.

Good, caving in to a mob should be expensive.

Seminole County should bill Al Sharpton.

Saw this tagline earlier today:

"So a Hispanic shoots a black and is acquitted by women, but it's still white men's fault"

I’d tend to view that as BS (way too low) before you even get to what having to pay GZ’s legal bills is gonna cost.

It should come out of the salary for the attorney’s that handled the prosecution! Well, maybe include the state officials that caved to political pressure.

Yes, the chief of police chief that didn’t arrest Zimmerman (and was forced to resign) looks like he could have saved the county a lot of money.

Leftist hate is mindless and lawless. Mindlessness is bankrupt and deadly for a society. See Detroit. Florida and Sanford voters should make the political race witch hunters pay for this National embarrassment. They should make politicians a lot less fearful of threats from the klan with a tan and much more fearful of the public’s demand for common sense and equality before the law w/o regard to race.
