Secretary of State John Kerry announced Wednesday the formation of the Office of Faith-Based Community Initiatives, which will be headed by Shaun Casey, a former religion advisor to President Barack Obamas 2008 campaign and a liberal professor who last year touted the end of civil religion in the United States.
I, frankly, am glad American civil religion is dying, Casey said at a discussion last year at the Center for American Progress focused on God and Politics in the last presidential election.
Kerry introduced Casey as a person who cares about faith in American society.

So where are all the libs crying about the separation of church and state? Oh, wait ...
Many of the modernists who are gleefully heralding their take over of the Roman Catholic Church are with these miscreants.

so what’s the problem? I assume everyone here knows what the term “American civil religion” means?
Casey didn’t use that term.
And the term “civil religion” predates Robert Bellah by a few centuries.
Another thumb in the eye from this out-of-control administration to most average Americans.
I have always said that there are two kinds of people in this world, those with a religious faith in God, and those with a religious faith in government.
One of these beliefs is far crazier than the other.
Evil.
No other word for it.
Except that America cannot succeed as a secular realm. Without Judeo-Christian teachings to underpin it, it crumbles.
Check out the particularly obscene sentence at the end of the article where Kerry compares Casey to Jesus. Sheesh... Things like that should be grounds for immediate firing.
Christ said “Upon this rock I will build this church”.
Allow me to stand corrected, since Casey did indeed use the Bellah term.
Reminds me of 2 Corinthians 11:4, where Paul warned against the preaching of “another Jesus”.
Even more odious is Casey’s defense of Jeremiah Wright and validation of militant socialist Reinhold Niebuhr.
If Republicans had any ‘nads to speak of they would put an oil executive in as the head of the EPA when they had the power to do so. I know. It’s like believing in the tooth fairy.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Has Kerry ever told the truth?
It’s okay. He worships the state.
