‘Sliders’ Snatching Valuables From Cars Across US (Video)

In a new wave of crime that occurs in an instant, thieves are cagily sliding into victim's cars and snatching valuables from open windows, in what police are calling "sliding."

From Corbin, Ky., to Tampa, slippery sliders are being caught on camera all across the country. Sometimes the perpetrator is caught red-handed, but most of the time the victim has no idea until it's too late.

Often operating at gas stations while customers are casually pumping fuel, thieves lying in wait pounce, snatching purses and other valuables, then running off.

So there is at least one advantage to living in New Jersey.

When I go out to eat, I often leave all four windows only SUZ open in good weather, even at a truck stop I often go to and I’ve not had anybody try to steal anything from my vehicle. Of course, this doesn’t have anything to do with the windows being left open for my 85 lb. Pitador and 110 lb. Great Dane always being in the vehicle when I leave the windows open that way.

Some years ago, the City of New York had a garbage strike and people were gift-wrapping their household refuse and getting it stolen that way.
