General Motors announced Tuesday that it will knock $5,000 off the sticker price of a new Chevy Volt, making it the latest electric car to be steeply discounted as automakers battle for buyers.

The Volt is still overpriced by a huge amount, even if you trusted the corrupt company that makes it, which I don’t. I am boycotting GM forever because of the massive corruption of their “bankruptcy”, which stiffed the bond holders and others to reward UAW and others with political connections. It’s good to see their strategy failing.
Hey, look at the bright side, it’s cheaper than ever to set your garage on fire! HA!
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Meanwhile on the way to the Great Lakes Medieval Festival last weekend I passed the Lordstown GM plant where they make the Cruz, the conventional cousin of the Volt. The freaking plant was empty. No activity, no parked trucks, no inventory, the place looked deserted.
Maybe it’s shut down for model year change over but I have never seen it so barren.
Plus GM...can we please stop with the stupid spelling of model names?!
You might think it’s cute or hip but it’s plain stupid?
Didn’t you learn from the Caterra/car that zigs thing?
They’d have to give me one, or maybe even pay me to take it!
kinda like Newsweek and Boston Globe.
The Volt is a seriously broken idea. I would never buy into a model that most likely will not survive. GM support for it would soon dry up and maintenance and maintenance costs would be a nightmare.
And then there’s it’s absolutely inadequate 40 mile range on electricity only, the time of recharge, its inability to perform in cold weather, its miniscule size.
There is nothing about it that commends it.
There's some nice, high-torque varaible speed electric motors in those things that should be just the ticket for driving a gun lathe.
Haven’t they had $5,000 rebates or equivalent discounts all along? Is this just another sales gimmick?
I wouldn’t care if it were made of gold, I don’t want it and any GM product for that matter. If it were “gold” I’d melt it down for “scrap” (they say gold is pretty valuable (sarc)
“Gubmit Motors” will never sell another car to me.
Maybe if the obama board of directors would resign and make the bond holders whole and take down that fag flag and pray to GOD for forgiveness... never mind... just let them go bankrupt and let the creditors strip their bones.
LLS
If they would give me it and $5,000 I’d take it, then sell it to some green jackass.
amen
I said the same thing about Chrysler but that Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is calling me. 2 tons 4x4 but 0-60 in 4 seconds...not bad plus it handles great. Only thing is no frame, unibody construction.
Toyota ONLY in this family. Has been for a few generations. I cannot see buying a GM or even Ford car. I have always heard horror stories from both companies. Sure Toyota has their problems occasionally, but they do make a great car.
They would have to give it to me, and pay me a fairly significant sum per year to drive it, for oh so many reasons. ...
So dabbling king BOZerO and his merry band of adoring leftards shuck not only at his presidency but also with automobiles, science, healthcare, law, and finances.
That eliminates a lot of career choices. Shoulda stuck with being a community disorganizer and playing a little pickup BB and amateur golf on the side as hobbies—yeh that’s about his optimal level of functioning skills—or lack thereof.
so now it’s only about 15-20k out of our price range... Thanks!!
We bought a Fusion. We love it. Never a GM product in our garage.
Would have thought they would learn something from the “ Nova”...
