Despite pledges by US President Barack Obama and key congressional leaders to shield the Israeli Iron Dome from sequestration cuts, Israel has offered to waive funding protection, reports Defense News, which says Israel has been insisting it should bear its share of the burden.
Our position is we must bear the burden that our American friends are bearing, Michael Oren, Israels ambassador in Washington, told the website in an interview to be published in an upcoming edition. Sources from both countries told the website that this is a painful, yet pragmatic price for the goodwill to be generated among longtime supporters in Washington.

In other words, Obama isn’t trustworthy.
Smart move, Israel.
But Everybody loves Dear Leader?!?!?!
Further translation: No we’re not going to share the technology secrets with the U.S. so Obama can give it to our enemies!
“No were not going to share the technology secrets with the U.S. so Obama can give it to our enemies!”
Another middle finger given to obama and his world thugs. Good on Israel!
Israel is just weaning itself off of American money so that when she does what needs to be done, and the Americans shut off funding in response, they won’t feel the affects.
There’s another angle on this. The Israelis only a couple months ago started pumping natural gas from offshore deposits. This is a really big deal and boon to Knesset coffers.
And its just the start.
The Israeli government is on the way to a really big endowment. It may not be as big as the endowments of the gulf states, but its going still be pretty substantial.
It means energy independence for the Israelis for starters. But they will soon be exporters.
When you combine energy abundance with big high tech companies that the Israelis already have— you get an economy about like that of Texas.
This is a big deal.
Basically if not now already, then soon—the Israelis don’t really need American money. They got plenty of their own.

Yeah the Israelis have big oil shale reserves like the USA does in the Green River basin of Wyoming and Colorado.
Its expensive to get out. I think the Estonians have perfected that expensive method for doing so that they’re teaching to the Jordanians—who have reserves under their land in the same formation— but its an open pit method.
Open pit is not generally popular for environmental reasons.
Maybe if the Jordanians are successful, the Israelis will sign on to Estonian help. Hard to say. Right now oil is expensive—so the Estonian method makes sense— but in a couple years rising production in the USA may drop the price of oil to the $70@barrel range—or less.
If so the Israelis wait until the USA perfects/kills the cost of the situ method. That in turn requires that the cost of electricity be killed. That in turn will have to
wait until the thorium reactors come on stream. Thorium reactor promise to cut the cost of electricity by as much as 1/10 current cheapest coal costs
