Anti-gay sentiment runs high in Russia, where homosexuality was illegal during the Soviet Union and only decriminalized in 1993. A law that sent homosexuals to psychiatric wards wasn't annulled until 1999. Petitions for gay pride parades in Moscow have been rejected and unsanctioned rallies are often met by egg-throwing Russian Orthodox believers as well as physical violence. Police are often seen ignoring the attacks, and they often detain the gay rights activists.Reading this article some might say, tongue-in-cheek; hey, the Bolsheviks weren't all bad.

They have it right....no sympathy there for sex deviates.
Their military is made up of MEN; not faggots and dykes, like ours.

It will be hard on Homosexuals to keep it in their pants. Just consider it Olympic training.
Ten years ago, this would not have been believed. Amazing how far a Society can fall when it embraces Change from accountability.

So what will happen to openly gay athletes and fans, as well as any vocal supporters or protestors, when Russia hosts the Winter Olympics next year in Sochi?

So, commies and muslins outside our country cannot tolerate gays, but for some reason commies and muslins in this country are extremely tolerant.
Go figure.

So what will happen to openly gay athletes and fans, as well as any vocal supporters or protestors, when Russia hosts the Winter Olympics next year in Sochi? What a silly question! They will be arrested and deported - if they are fast enough to run away from Cossacks and find some police to surrender to.

“If a law has been approved by the federal legislature and signed by the president, then the government has no right to suspend it. It doesn’t have the authority,”
I never thought that I’d see the day when a Russian public official understood democracy and the rule of law better than the President and Attorney General of the United States.

In fact Bolsheviks has encouraged homosexuality, abortion etc. They were social liberals. It was actually Stalin who criminalized both in the 1930s in process of purging Bolsheviks, so you can count him as a social conservative in your own terms:-)
