The United States urged Arab ally Egypt to pull "back from the brink" after security forces killed dozens of supporters of deposed Islamist President Mohamed Mursi and opened a dangerous new phase in the army's confrontation with his Muslim Brotherhood...
Washington, treading a fine line with an important Middle East ally and recipient of over $1 billion in military aid, urged the Egyptian security forces to respect the right to peaceful protest...
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry spoke to two senior members of Egypt's army-installed interim cabinet, expressing his "deep concern."
"This is a pivotal moment for Egypt," he said in a statement. "The United States ... calls on all of Egypt's leaders across the political spectrum to act immediately to help their country take a step back from the brink."
Saturday's violence, and the threat of more, has deepened alarm in the West over events in the country of 84 million people, a vital bridge between the Middle East and North Africa.
Over 200 people have died in violence since Sisi deposed Mursi on the back of huge popular protests against his rule, ending a one-year experiment in government by the Muslim Brotherhood after decades spent in the shadows under successive Egyptian strongmen.

Incompetence, thy name is Obama.
Like the US has any credibility now with this crew in charge.....
No worries; Lurch is on the case.

...........................................................
My guess is that if the protest had been peaceful the Egyptian Army would not have fired on them.
I am sure the Brotherhood started it. The Egyptian Army finished it.
Obama aint happy seeing his boys get their ass kicked.

Uh... doesn't this count as way past "the brink"?
Has anyone seen or heard from Mursi since July 3? If he died resisting the coup or if he remains defiant when finally seen, things will not be pleasant in Egypt. Most rational people would love to see the Brotherhood and political Islamists to disappear, but they are numerous and will not gently retire to their mosques. Soon the lands formerly known as Christendom will be flooded with impoverished but still fervent refugees. The US should not entangle itself in the internal affairs of Egypt. Kerry and Obama are out of their depth.
Time to leave the ME, protect Israel only and fiercely and start drilling our own oil. Let China and Russia and Europe deal with Islam. We’ve got plenty oil oil and the tech to make it safe. Islam destroys everything.
Heads up, things could get totally out of control...

Has Lurch worked out a surrender agreement for the Egyptian Army yet?
Pray for America to Wake UP
Next to last excuse for Lurch and BamBam: “This was a phony scandal.”
If things really go south, the carnival Barker is practicing his straight face with this:
“A sharknado out of the Nile river is responsible for ...”
Egis not an ally!! Just another money grubbing Muslim country.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry spoke to two senior members of Egypt's army-installed interim cabinet, expressing his "deep concern."
That was a pretty manly thing for a guy like him to do.
They’ll probably toss Lurch pretty soon and ask for an American ambassador that’s actually an American.
Yeah, but Kerry knows all about insurgencies..after all he got medals in VietNam and you know, he was in Cambodia.
