The New York Times published James Risens most recent article last Wednesday. It focused on the bipartisan backlash President Barack Obamas administration faces in the wake of revelations about the domestic surveillance operations of Americas National Security Agency (NSA).
A federal appeals court ruled on Friday that Risen would receive no First Amendment protection safeguarding the confidentiality of his sourcesin this case former CIA employee Jeffrey Sterling.
The ruling could not have come at a more volatile time. In the midst of the revelations by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden, the Risen trial sheds further light on the Obama administrations unparalleled clampdown on official leakers.

The government is controlling the Internet and what is piped in from abroad, no differently than the Chinese regime, only we tend to “allow” for more to pass at least for now. But ultimately the US government controls what you see. Furthermore, with “secret” being stamped on everything she withholds information not to protect sources, technical capabilities and future operations, but wrong doings and gross Constitutional violations which no one even seems to really be concerned with nor will there be any consequences for those involved. Finally you have so called “First Amendment or Free Speech Zones” and the laws and policies regarding this basically allows the government to control peoples voice grievances.
America began this slide a long time ago, but today you essentially have a nation that is a hollow shell of what she once was, at least regards liberty/freedom. Terms not really used often anymore in the media, arts or by the politicians, possibly for a reason. But “free speech” isn't the only one. The right to bear arms/self defense, the right to property ownership (With a property tax the government has made itself the owner of all real property, like a feudal serf, you just get the land for a little while), privacy (which has degenerated to mean no more than reproductive and sexual rights), due process (Look at the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012), and free speech have all been undermined by years of big government liberals and so called conservatives.
Snowden’s going to stay in Russia.
That only applies if you're saying something that those running these administrations and politicians want to hear.
For example- some race issue, gender, sexual orientation, environmental crime covered up or religious discrimination issue. Undermining the US Constitution with programs they run and doing this by design, not so much.
Beginning to think Russia's going towards freedom as we're racing the other way.
Thinking about learning Russian. May come in handy in the near future.
The ones that escaped Nazi Germany were, by and large, the ones who not only SAW the writing on the wall, but UNDERSTOOD it and got out before it was too late.
