"With 100% of precincts reporting, the Hanford-area grower holds a nearly 6,000 vote lead over Kern County Supervisor Leticia Perez in the contentious 16th State Senate race.
According to the California Secretary of State's office, Vidak has 54% of the vote with a total of 39,085 votes. Perez has 46% of the vote with a total of 33,252 votes.
As with May's special election for the seat -- which was vacated by Michael Rubio -- Vidak enjoyed strong support. from Kings and Tulare counties................"
OK, can anyone tel me how the 16th district of CA voted in 2012, 2010 and 2008?
Does that end the Rat tax super-majority?
One more Republican in Sacramento. But, how does this change the make up of the California Senate?
It means the Plantation Owner group has one more vote to lobby for more Mexicans in the fields.
Perez was their worst nightmare, a Mexican from the Unions.
They both agree: California for Mexico, just a debate about what the wage rate will be.
Now there are two of them? Ha ha.
It was 27 Rats, 11 pubbies, and two vacancies.
The dems would still the minimum for a super majority.
It ain’t over till the Fat Lady votes absentee 6600 times...............
I believe the dims are now only 1 vote away from losing the supermajority.
6,000 vote difference?
No problem for dems, they will fight it and count the votes until the dem wins most likely.
I’m not familiar with the name Vidak, thought it was a drug of some sort...
It's a Faaaaaakeeee!!!!
good news in a sea of blue. congratulations andy.
I think it does. Son said this was extremely important. Enough that he went precinct walking and he lives in Nor Cal.
From what I see, the Dems will have 27 out of 40 seats, the bare minimum to still have the tax-super-majority.
There is also another vacancy, a contest for District 52 (a district that falls in L.A. & San Bernardino Counties), which looks like there will be a run-off between a Dem and a “No Party Preference” candidate (the lone Rep candidate in a nine-person race with 7 Dems garnered thus far 14.5%). I’m not familiar with those candidates.
There was precinct walking and phone banks calling from Ventura County (SO. CA).
Very good news - unless ‘they’ find some ‘lost’ ballots or something . . .
(hate to say you can almost count on it anywhere, these
days . . .)
Correction on previous post, the other contest is an assembly race. There is still another vacancy in the state senate. Unsure of the status of that seat.
They always find a box of lost ballots and they are always just enough to change the outcome.
Congratulations Senator Vidak!!!
I hear ya! Praying no ballots turn up in the trunk of a car! This win is really a boost for CA.
‘They always find a box of lost ballots_______’
Funny, that - - -
