Mayor Bloomberg and Gov. Cuomo channeled their inner mountain men — and showed off their office tans — during a white-water rafting race in the Adirondacks yesterday to promote upstate tourism.
The pair, joined by crews of assorted relatives and staffers, engaged in a three-mile contest on the Indian River, about 310 miles north of Manhattan.

The two-day event cost taxpayers about $175,000. But Cuomo said the publicity was “priceless” and brought reporters from as far away as the United Kingdom and Taiwan.

$175K? How large a contingent do they have?
They also spent $175,000 of taxpayer money to ride a couple of rafts on an upstate NY river. Only Democrats can waste money like that.
No taxpayers to do the rowing for them.

Oh, trust me, there’s a price. Ask the guy trying to pay his NY State Income tax if this was a good idea. Ask the business owner thinking about relocating his company (and the jobs) to a friendlier State if it was a good idea. And on... and on.. and on...
Call me crazy, but $175K still sounds like a lot of money to me.
