Mayor Bloomberg and Gov. Cuomo channeled their inner mountain men and showed off their office tans during a white-water rafting race in the Adirondacks yesterday to promote upstate tourism.
The pair, joined by crews of assorted relatives and staffers, engaged in a three-mile contest on the Indian River, about 310 miles north of Manhattan.
He called me up and I said, Oh, I cant do that. And he said, You will come, Bloomberg said.
The two-day event cost taxpayers about $175,000. But Cuomo said the publicity was priceless and brought reporters from as far away as the United Kingdom and Taiwan.

$175K? How large a contingent do they have?
They also spent $175,000 of taxpayer money to ride a couple of rafts on an upstate NY river. Only Democrats can waste money like that.
No taxpayers to do the rowing for them.
Sadly, fresh water sharks are so rare that they weren’t available to dine on these two didiots.

Oh, trust me, there’s a price. Ask the guy trying to pay his NY State Income tax if this was a good idea. Ask the business owner thinking about relocating his company (and the jobs) to a friendlier State if it was a good idea. And on... and on.. and on...
Call me crazy, but $175K still sounds like a lot of money to me.
