Congressional panels approve arms aid to Syrian opposition

The House and Senate intelligence committees have approved CIA weapons shipments to opposition fighters in Syria, allowing the Obama administration to move ahead on the stalled program, senior congressional and administration officials said Monday.

Despite ongoing “very strong concerns about the strength of the administration’s plans in Syria and its chances for success,” the House committee reached consensus “after much discussion and review,” Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) said in a statement.

Both the House and Senate panels voted on the administration’s plan last week, officials said.

The agreement allows money already in the CIA’s budget to be reprogrammed for the Syria operation, a covert action that President Obama approved early last month. The infrastructure for the program, which also includes training, logistics and intelligence assistance — most of it based in Jordan — is already in place and the arms would begin to flow within the next several weeks. . .

Arming combatants actively engaged in War, especially a foreign backed invasion by mercenaries and terrorists, is an Act of War. Doesn’t the full CONgress have to declare war first before the President can act?

I want to know too!

Unless you understood that Obama if fulfilling an Islamic prophecy in engendering what Islamists understand as a ‘John-The -Baptist’ forerunner to the Mahdi or 12th Imam.

He is almost single-handedly attempting to restore the Ottoman empire in the North - and a Sunni Arab Caliphate in the South at the same time.

The ONLY strategy Obama applies, is whatever hurts America and aids Jihadists.

Period. Obama STARTED the Arab Spring protests in Egypt, Libya and elsewhere.

Obama's a dolt and a liar, but how exactly how did he start the protests?

Did he offer money to hundreds of thousands of people in several countries in exchange for them protesting and getting shot down in the streets by regimes they actually liked?

Did he try to arrange for the overthrow of US allies in Bahrain (home of the 5th Fleet) before changing his mind by backing the Saudi intervention?

Makes no sense.

Only the Shiite Muslims believe that whole 12th Imam story and Obama hasn't backed Shiites in the Arab Spring. He allowed them to be crushed in Bahrain and he's currently working with Al Qaeda to defeat them in Syria.

In other words, your theory would better apply to George W. Bush who ousted a Sunni regime in Iraq and allowed the Shiites to take power and link up with Iran.

Was Bush trying to arrange for the return of the 12th Imam? Or could it be that he was intervening in a region he didn't understand, just like every other US President?

Cairo Speech - then William Ayers and other Marxist 'Organizers" went to Egypt to 'organize'.

You also need to stop thinking like a stupid American and start thinking like a Jihadist. They embrace death. Any 'go' signal is the cassus belli to act. Obama signaling to the Muslim Brotherhood that he would support their ouster of Mubarak (same with Ghadaffi and Assad BTW) is all it took.

As to Islamic prophecy - the Shia have their 12th Imam and the Sunni have their Mahdi. BOTH envision an Islamic global caliphate. They simply differ on which 'denomination' gets to run it once they destroy the Great and Little Satan.

Believe it or not, Arabs are quite capable of organizing their own protests without the white man (or black man, as it were) doing it for them.

As I recall, the Cairo speech said nothing about Islamist rule, and I really doubt that William Ayers could organize hundreds of thousands in Tahrir Sq given that he failed to do the same at home as a Weatherman. You're giving him far too much credit.

Any 'go' signal is the cassus belli to act.

Islamists have been staging terror attacks and trying to seize power in the Arab world for decades. They've never needed a Washington before and they don't need one now.

Believe it or not, the US doesn't actually micromanage everything that goes on in the world.

Right- Obama had nothing to do with the ‘Arab Spring’.

Clueless.
