There are no holes. Docs are not athletes. Athletes are not docs. An athlete taking a supplement that you or I can also legally buy at GNC but is banned by his boss is not the same as a doc performing surgery on Red Bull and NoDoze. If my son was a pro athlete that is for him to decide based on the rules at that time. I would never want him to cheat, but if enhancements were permitted to assist him then he would have to work with his docs, trainers, etc. to find the healthy protocol. Many advancements have been made in enhancements. My husband uses natural enhancemnts for body building, although he does not compete in the sport. It’s more of a personal goal thing for him. As to your historical reference, I already addressed that. Those buggy whip manufacturers are all dead and we’re still using the internal combustion engine. Bats, batting gloves, shoes, computer training models, etc. make the “historical” argument obsolete.

I stand by my comment that if a substance is not permitted and one is caught using then the rules have been broken and punishment must follow. I’m simply standing by my claim that these substance rules are silly. For each athlete caught there are dozens more still using. It’s like Prohibition or the War on Drugs: Make it illegal and American ingenuity will find a way around it.

Well, there you go. You have revealed your bias for the discussion. "Natural enhancements." Is that like breast enhancements from a cadaver?

How does my husband’s vitamin regime for an activity in which he does not professionally compete make me biased? I was actually looking forward to a decent discussion on the pros/cons of professional sport enhancements, but you obviously aren’t capable of that. You claim my argument has holes but then you don’t prove/refute them, and then you make bogus and juvenile accusations. Good night.

Oh, and for the cadaver comment: How many pro athletes have benefitted from new surgical techniques, including using cadaver tendons for ACL repair? Historically a knee was a career ender, and now athletes have found that this surgery decreases their timed sprints because the replacement tendon snaps back faster. Better lock those athletes out of the club house, they’re cheating!

Poppycock. This case didn't mysteriously develop overnight. A year ago, wussy Braun needlessly discredited Dino Laurenzi in his cover up scheme. A real man would have 'fessed up in the beginning, rather than blame the specimen collector.

I agree... Poppocock! We watched all the coverage last night on ESPN, specifically on "Baseball Tonight" at 10pm. Saw Braun's wussy lying statement from 2012. What a POS.

Just curious: Why did they go after Braun first, and not A-Fraud (NYY's Alex Rodriguez)? Suppposedly there's even more "overwhelming evidence" that A-Rod was deeply involved with Biogenesis, and apparently A-Rod even tried to interfere with the investigation connecting him to Biogenesis.

Braun is a lying, cheating POS, but I don't think he is guilty of interference with the investigation of his involvement with Biogenesis, from what I heard last night...

Certainly what Braun did was wrong as he has acknowledged. I truely respect anyone who will accept the responsibility for his actions and Braun has certainly done that with his statement.

I thought at first you were being sarcastic but now I think you are not. Braun saying "I am not perfect" and "I realize now that I have made some mistakes" is hardly taking resposnisiblity. He goes on to say that he and his family are the one's who have suffered. What a worm.

Dino Laurenzi (remember the guy Braun's people defamed in 2012?) should sue him for millions.

They didn't necessarily go after Braun first, likely he is just the first to accept the deal. A-rod's case is much more complicated. There are accusations that Bosch tried to extort A-rod and charges that A-rod tried to pay hush money to Bosch after MLB started investigating.

Cop-out. Braun and the Brewers’ seasons were already over. Now, he’s just not going to get paid for it and both get to start over again in 2014.

Braun's contract next year is for $1.5MM more than this year. By taking the suspension now instead of next year he saves ~$602,000. What a guy!

“Would you encourage or tolerate your son taking steroids to advance his sports career?”

That’s it right there. Everyone of these players had a father or father figure who mentored him when he was a kid. What father would want his son to grow up and be a drug abuser? It gets right to the heart of the game when our sons end up in an environment where “every one is doing it”. My son is 9 and he loves baseball. Guys like Ryan Braun and A-Roid make me sick. Greedy SOB’s, laughing all the way to the bank.
