The majority of homicides involve youth and young adults between the ages of 10 and 24. In fact, it’s the number one cause of death among black males in this age group. And despite making up just 13 percent of the population, the FBI reports that half of the homicide victims in 2011 were black.
and that from 13% of the population came half the murders, and that 93% of the murderers of blacks, were OTHER BLACKS.
Not whitey. OTHER FREAKING BLACKS.
No wonder Jesse is relieved when he’s walking down a street at night and the person coming at him the other direction is white.
Today there was an article on the website titled “TheRoot.com” that tried to use the statistics in a silly way to imply that whites are in denial about having comparable murder rates. He completely ignores the fact that blacks are only 13% of the population. He says it’s a myth created by the media (i.e., that blacks kill one another at higher rates then whites kill one another). He notes that despite conservative’s efforts to falsely portray black Americans as having a problem with murder rates, the “truth” is that blacks kill blacks 94% of the time whereas whites kill whites 84% of the time.
