Define “our” ? She’s a creature of the party establishment and is outright leftist on gay marriage. That’s a non-starter. She’s also moving to a state she hasn’t lived in since a kid (30 years) to try to buy a Senate seat all because she is too timid to run from a state (Virginia) she has lived in for years. She has no business running in Wyoming.
Because she is running for what reason exactly?? to replace an already good conservative so she can “get” a seat.
To me that speaks volumes about her character.
show me some REAL guts, run in VA against a Dem or Rino...
not just “its my turn cause I am Cheneys daughter”!
having lived in Wyo my whole life... she is toast. A true fools gold there. simply selfish pride.
She was born in Wisconsin, but her ties there are as tenuous as her ties to Wyoming are. Virginia would have been more appropriate, but she'd have to run a real race there.
Republicans in general are disgusted and sickened by the idea of homosexual “marriage”. IMO, without this bizarre capitulation by Liz, it would be a close race. I would vote for her, that’s for sure, if this were MY choice. Bob
Do you suppose Freudenthal is waiting to see how the GOP race is going before committing? I assume that if he's up against Enzi then he'd have to be considered a long-shot?
Iv’e always liked Liz. She usually comes down solidly on the right side of the issue and she will bring it as far as getting on TV and presenting the conservative view. I have never even heard of Enzi. We need more in your face on TV types like Cruz and Paul.
I, too, am taken aback not only by the vicious attacks on her, but on her supporters in this forum as well.
Have you been on a desert island for the last week? Liz Cheney announced she's running for senate from Wyoning and challenging Mike Enzi in the primary.
So what has Enzi done to fight the homosexual agenda?
Yes. If Dave tries to run against Enzi, he’d probably lose, barring any slip-up by Enzi between now and then.
If Enzi were to lose to Cheney, then Dave would probably jump in the race, because only a few debates aired on public TV or on radio stations across the state will show who knows their buttocks from a warm rock on any sunny day in Wyoming. Dave would walk away with any debate.
Cheney might have chops in international affairs, but people in Wyoming, by and large, don’t give a rat’s rear end about foreign affairs just now. Wyomingites have sent enough of their young people off to wars for the neo-con’s causes that they’re tired of it. What’s on people’s mind right now is Obama’s “war on coal” and the ruinous increase in electric rates it would cause.
I’m a retired EE, I know a little bit about power generation, tariffs and power distribution, and when I’ve heard Dave speak on the subject, I’ve been blown away with his competence and articulation of actual facts. Get into a discussion of windmills vs. coal plants in Wyoming, and you will quickly find out that Dave Freudenthal knows his stuff. Get into a discussion of hunting, wildlife management, wolf management and so on - and you quickly find out that Dave knows his stuff. Get into a discussion of business in the state, gas/coal/oil receipts, farm prices, cattle numbers... and you find out Dave knows his stuff.
I’m being quite serious here. I’d long since written off most politicians of both parties as dumb, inbred Ivy League grifters when we moved to Wyoming. The first time I heard Dave on a local AM radio show, I was impressed. He made himself available once a month for an *hour* on a local radio station, and he made time to talk on lots of local AM radio stations in Wyoming. People could call in and talk directly to the governor of the state, on the air. They got *answers* to their questions. It is retail politics at its finest, and Dave knows the facts cold, so he can do it.
Cheney would be utterly wiped out by Dave Freudenthal. Just utterly destroyed.
Enzi better be careful. Crossing the wrong people makes you tend to explode your car. /sarc (sort of)
Guess they don’t care for carpetbaggers.
If I were, your post would be scant help in catching me up. That’s all I’m saying.
She has a right to run. Enzi is not entitled to this job. Heck, he’s been there for 16 years. Anybody that has been in Washington that long needs to be challenged just to keep them honest. Let them fight it out and see if he deserves to keep his job.
The Republican Party has grown stagnant. Our leaders pursue old ideas. They have grown comfortable with Washingtons paternalism and have become convinced the problem is Democrats in charge and not government itself. They talk of small government, but they often do not practice what they preach. Even if Cheney loses, Enzi needs to understand that he has to start putting points on the board instead of just expecting our support because of the R next to his name.
Listening to Mark Levin last night and he praised Liz Cheney, what the hell is the “great one” thinking????
I am thinking of downgrading him to the “Slightly better one”.....
You have to wonder just what is going through that woman's head. Does she honestly thing that she can breeze into the state and spout that "My heart has always been in Wyoming" crap and expect people to look at her like a long lost relative? Is she looking at a senate seat as an extension of her punditry and doesn't think she'll have to actually work at the nation's business? Or has she just been in DC so long she's completely lost touch with the rest of the planet? I'm in central Nebraska and I doubt that the folks here are a whole lot different than the average Wyoming resident, and everyone thinks "If she tried that stunt here she'd be laughed out of the state". And our senator is not only retiring but is a shade less conservative than Enzi is.
This is not surprising. I have lived and worked in many rural parts of the country and the one thing that trumps everything else in the dislike column for locals, is “outsiders” showing up and telling them how to do things. She is obviously seen as an outsider trying to tell the people of Wyoming they were wrong to elect their Senator — fail.
Great question for Liz. Enzi's is a safe seat, and he's mostly a good conservative. So why on earth did she decide to pick this needless fight?
Anyway, we don't need another GOP vote for homo "marriage".
