Note that the virginity check didn’t happen with Kate Middleton.

Never ask a question unless you know the answer.

The technical term is “poofy”.

Ugh, Rowan Williams is a barking moonbat.

I actually like Elizabeth. I’ve read a bit about her; she’s very hardworking, and she tends to be conservative. But she’s putting monarchical rules before God’s ultimate sovereignty....definitely the wrong priority.

"What faith if I may ask? Cannot be Christianity imo."

So true on the question/answer. It was well publicized Will and Kate were shacked up long before the marriage. I don’t imagine there was one done on Fergie, either. Of course, it takes two to tango.

Somebody in GB certainly has the wires crossed.

Rather ironic for her to do this while waiting for the arrival of an heir to the throne conceived, one assumes, the “old fashioned” way....
But then again, there have been rumors that she was conceived by way of a turkey baster....just sayin’.....

The Monarchy fell when the UK invited in hordes of Muslim savages,

Probably both GB and France will eventually outlaw gay marriage again when Islam becomes the official state religion.

If Elizabeth truly tended towards conservatism, there would have been a lot of liberal governments dissolved by her over the years, thus mitigating their damage. And never would she give royal assent to gay marriage.

I don’t know the circumstances under which the Queen signed the legislation. Maybe she had no choice. But what I didn’t expect is that, regardless that she was arguably trying to protect the throne from Prince Charles, she’s now arguably done more damage to the throne herself.

"That’s not very conservative. And it plays right into the Communists’ goal to abolish the family; indeed it was and always has been the first step (or maybe the second, behind divorce)."

So, I'm a communist because I have no problem with a man and woman having coitus if they're not married? Ever hear of a condom? If coitus produces a child, then a different matter.

For the record, I am pro marriage between a man and a woman (plus anti-abortion). It's still the best family arrangement for a child. I have long known the benefits for a child's upbringing with a father and mother. And I get sick of watching TV shows or movies with two gay couples and their adopted children. Still want to call me a communist? BTW, that is more an economical social construct than a moral one.

Sorry guy, I don't subscribe to any "religion" if that is where you're coming from. I'm an agnostic, but I can still see what works best. My morality is firm and absolute based on my humanity of empathy, sympathy, and ethics. Back off.

Back off an attack on society? That’s a little tough for a conservative to do.

Incidentally, I didn’t call you a communist. But reacting as though I did arouses suspicion now, with all due respect, as well as trying to say that communism is purely economical when the Manifesto makes it plain that it also has its own set of morals (or twisted ones thereof). Please learn a bit more about the Founding Fathers and what they were trying to set up in this country.

There is no such thing as “no choice” when it comes to royal assent, which is something that the monarch grants (sort of like the POTUS signing a bill into law). The UK’s monarch also can withhold said assent, equivalent to a presidential veto; this is one of the monarch’s reserve powers.

Thanks for injecting a little sanity into a discussion where everyone's view of monarchy seems to have been informed by the last few chapters of Alice in Wonderland.

Nothing like a thread where people are blaming the wrong person. Gay Marriage is just the latest in Cameron’s stab his own party in the back Government.

Technically, perhaps. But not in practice.

To do so would create a constitutional crisis, end the monarchy and tear apart the government. Which makes it utterly unlike a presidential veto.

I don't like this either, but it's not on the Queen's head. It's on the head of the PM and all the MPs who voted for it.
