“Some Maryland teenagers were pranking adults they did not like by generating fake copies of their license plates using a computer, putting them on cars and then driving through red light cameras.

The authorities were freaking out as it was drawing so much attention to the unreliability of the system.”

Excellent! Use the system against itself. Suppose this prank became widespread. If I had a nearby camera I might try that.

I recommend jihadi style headgear for areas with cameras and then ignoring the ticket since they cannot identify your face. Never sign those mailed violations I’ve heard, since then you give up your rights. Just write “that’s not me” and send it back unsigned.

You can order a vanity plate from certain free state DMVs such as Wyoming. Cost is usually under $10. You have to sign a statement that you agree that plates are not to display on vehicles and give a reasonable excuse why you need it.

But as long as your intent is not to deceive law enforcement (i.e. you are displaying the plate on the front vehicle in a far away state which doesn't require a front plate), they really don't care. It is reasonable revenue and free advertising for their state.

I’d try to find a fuse and pull it. Unfortunately, I doubt OnStar is the only thing on the fuse, but’s it’s worth a try. Very reversible.

My cellphone use, soon, will be that I occasionally have the cellphone with me. Not often.

Nice, I like that.

I guess I’d have to remember to turn it off going through toll plazas and toll lanes.

What camera? And how visible is it (they?) inside your car?

See post # 38 re: an IR headband, govt. might legislate license plate distortion methods away, but putting an IR light adjacent to the plate cannot be stopped.

I had my business partner’s ex-wife PI put a GPS on my car (long story).

I started with these GPS jammers, and intentionally left the tracker on my car.

http://www.jammer-store.com/gps-blockers-jammers.html

I moved on to one that works with a GPS so you can program in the location you want the GPS to say you are. I had it showing I was in the garage, then her mom’s house, then the garage.

Made sure both I and my partner were with a bunch of people when it was happening.

All these cops showed up for no reason, repeatedly.

Pretty fun.

I’ll send the link later.

If I could find a coaxial cable I could stick a pin in it and ground it. That would probably burn out the transmitter and stop it form receiving signals unless they come through the radio receiver.

It depends on the make and model of your car. Some are in the little shark fin on the back roof of your car, but this could also be the XM radio antenna. Mine is/was on a box glued to the inside of the windshield just to the right of the rearview mirror

I have the personal one. I wandered around all of NYC with it on.

The only time someone noticed is I walked into Luis Vuitton with my wife (who was spending serious cash there on luggage) and the security came out and was (politely) looking me over, like they were afraid I was a ghost or an alien or something.

oh, duh, I misread that you had both of them. That IR device is great with multiple applications.

Kind of. While they “busted” it, I disagree.

The lentricular cover would obsure one letter or number which is enough.
