Good article and it’s true. The left wants the government to control all of your life. but the “left” is the democrat party. I keep seeing constant bashing of the GOP and that’s fine if you want to criticize the GOP but I don’t see even the naming of the threat to our freedom = the democrat party. We have to stop calling them the left, socialists, liberals,progressives etc , they have a million names but actually are all really just the democrat party.

The media is the most powerful entity in the USA and the world. the media made a non-crime( the zimmerman case) into the top news that everyone was focused on. all in attempt as Rush says to take away our guns and independence from government. 2 of the top stories of the year, zimmerman and newtown. they are hell bent on taking away our gun rights
Type 1 are the ignorant. They believe media *facts* and *statistics* and they truly, sincerely believe society would be safer, better and less violent if access to guns were greatly or completely restricted. They have never been around firearms or knowledgeable firearm owners. They have been fed lies and formed their opinions on the basis of them. In many cases, these people can be cured with a trip to the range and exposure to the truth.
Type 2 are far more insidious. They understand that a firearm means a degree of autonomy and independence. It is a means of resisting heavy-handed tyranny, and they can not abide that their perceived lessers would have the temerity to possess such means.

I was incorrect: the Jury did not receive instructions on Stand Your Ground. Zimmerman waived any such hearing or consideration, waiver of which is included in the FL Stand Your Ground law.
That this was part of the jury instruction was a fabrication by the NY Times. From the townhall.com posting here on “Holder’s Stand Your Ground Squirrel”:
“The New York Times, for example, falsely claimed in an editorial preceding Holder’s speech that the jury “reached its verdict after having been asked to consider Mr. Zimmerman’s actions in light of the now-notorious Stand Your Ground provision in Florida’s self-defense law.” Rolling Stone made a similarly inflammatory claim, calling Martin a “victim of Florida’s Stand Your Ground law.”
All nonsense. The jury received standard instructions. Zimmerman did not invoke the Stand Your Ground provision. Zimmerman later waived his right to a pretrial immunity hearing under the Stand Your Ground procedures.
And as National Review’s Sterling Beard points out, “The only time Stand Your Ground came up during the trial proper was when a prosecution witness stated that he’d taught a class Zimmerman had attended that covered Stand Your Ground.” So Stevie Wonder like a whole bunch of uninformed idiots is pontificating and puffing about a lie— all of it of course. It is a career move to boot for his “audience”.
You are correct, though, about the attitude. Actions of violence caused the creation and passing of Stand Your Ground law, and the libs don’t like it. Martin is incidental to the “meme”
The primary motivation for most libs is to feel good about themselves. There’s no bigger slap in the face than to point out how what they support is evil and does harm.
With this issue, one question will do that:
What do you want to do to us that requires that we be disarmed first?
It must require some force that you don’t want us to be able to resist.

The average police response time in a high population density city like Manhattan is 9 minutes. The response time in rural areas is much greater, is measured in hours where the police density is one cop per 100 square miles. The big government/helpless citizen model works less the farther away from the big city you go. One size doesn't fit all. Where there are 20,000 humans packed per square mile, and 20% of them are crazy, on drugs, or ready to go postal, the argument can be made for de-weaponizing the hoi polloi.
