CALLER: Excellent. So there's press release yesterday. La Raza is joining up with the NAALCP saying they want the DOJ to take action on this case, which I presume is probably civil rights charges, though, they don't say it. I was wondering what you think of La Raza and why they're not standing up for Zimmerman.
RUSH: Well, that's not all that hard to understand. La Raza is a liberal, left-wing, socialist group -- and the socialist, left-wing, liberal group view on this is to support Trayvon Martin, because America is racist. In fact, you know what I'm gonna do? I got an e-mail from a guy this morning. I want to read portions of this to you, because I think, Connor, this will answer your question pretty well.
Dennis Bowman is the man who wrote a book on my grandfather, Rush Limbaugh, Sr. He's traveled internationally, and he sent an e-mail today. I'm gonna paraphrase it. That's the best thing to do. One of the aspects of this that Obama has chosen to take is the gun control aspect, that Zimmerman had a gun, that the real problem here was not racism or profiling or any of that or even gay-bashing.
The problem was a gun.
The other day, Obama actually called for passing a new gun control law in response to this. Now, we all know that the left, if they could, would take everybody's guns away from us. No matter what they say, that's what they would do if they could. If they could, they'd eliminate the Second Amendment of the Constitution. If they could, they'd send authorities door-to-door, and they would collect every gun owned by every citizen. We know that. You know it and I know it.
Why do they wish to deprive us of guns?
If they deprive us of guns, they have deprived us of one of the ways we can protect ourselves against the criminal element -- and that, in turn, would make us more dependent on government for protection: The police, law enforcement authorities. What it is rooted in is if you can't protect yourself, you have to have somebody else do it. The left wants total control. One of the reasons they hate guns is because guns offer independence.
And I am not exaggerating.
Now, they'll tell you they hate guns 'cause they kill people and it's vicious and it's mean and it's all these horrible, rotten things. But the gun to the liberal -- a gun to a leftist -- is a huge threat. Liberals want the government running as much of your life as possible. If you have a gun, you can protect yourself. You don't need, at the store, the cops to show up. So if by taking away everybody's guns, they can remove the ability to resist criminals, then the desire to stand up for one's constitutional rights and limited government's not far behind.
If people would willingly give up their guns and say, "Okay, I'll give up my own self-defense and self-protection and I'll turn it over to you" -- the left figures if they could pull that off -- then you'll turn everything over to government at some point. It's just a matter of time before you give up your whole life to them. If they can remove your individual will to resist criminals on your own and instead sit around and hope and pray that somebody from the government shows up, the police force or whatever, then they think it isn't long before you'll give up everything.
In Europe, the thought of shooting someone, even in self-defense, is unfathomable. If you go to Europe, you will routinely run into people who will be shocked and perplexed -- dumbfounded -- that, in the United States, a homicide is justifiable self-defense. In Europe, they've already given up the right to self-defense. In Europe they have given up the notion of protecting themselves, including from foreign attack.
They don't even have departments of defense, much less their own self-defense. They've given up it all. They look at this Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman thing, and the average, ordinary European who's given up all of his rights, can't believe that a homicide is permissible even in self-defense. They can't understand it. So Obama, he just is the constant chipping away of constitutional rights. So the answer to your question, "Where's La Raza?"
La Raza's on the side of big government.
George Zimmerman practiced self-defense. That's not healthy. That's an obstacle to what the left wants. Now, they want you to believe they're upset because George Zimmerman killed a black guy. When you get right down to it, that's not what bothers 'em. It's the gun. It's the ability to self-defend. It's the ability to protect one's self-and not need the police, the government, or what have you. That's what really bothers them. But La Raza, the NAACP, you name it: They're all leftist groups, big government.
They are not oriented towards celebrating the individual.

The left wants your guns because they fear you. They fear you will dis over they are criminals perpetrating crimes and you will come for them. They also fear they will lose the debate with you so they want to disarm you so they can kill you.

More than that, a firearm is defiance with the high likelihood of success. The Left is good at only one thing, and that is identifying enemies. They don't want to control us, they want to kill us.

Global collectivism is easier to enforce on disarmed individuals than on armed individuals.
Type 1 are the ignorant. They believe media *facts* and *statistics* and they truly, sincerely believe society would be safer, better and less violent if access to guns were greatly or completely restricted. They have never been around firearms or knowledgeable firearm owners. They have been fed lies and formed their opinions on the basis of them. In many cases, these people can be cured with a trip to the range and exposure to the truth.
Type 2 are far more insidious. They understand that a firearm means a degree of autonomy and independence. It is a means of resisting heavy-handed tyranny, and they can not abide that their perceived lessers would have the temerity to possess such means.
I think this is the first time Rush has talked about guns and made sense.

Yep. To the government guns are not to protect yourself against criminals. They don’t want you to have them so you can’t protect yourself from the government.
For the same reason they want universal health care.

They want your guns (not mine; they were all lost in various bizarre ways) because the one-party rule they are striving for will be worthless if the country is still armed to the teeth.
They know that, as long as we have a meaningful 2nd Amendment, we will also have a meaningful 1st Amendment.
Seriously, this is how it was explained to me by a group of committed Leftists 20 years ago.
Sounds crazy, but these people are now pretty high up in the Democrat Party in various positions and they have not changed their way of thinking one bit.
The Lib/prog/socialists want my weapons so when they come for me, it is easier for them to kill me without risk to themselves.

Stevie Wonder said he wouldn’t play FL, until they remove the Stand Your Ground law. It wasn’t about po iddle twayyvon, it was about how Zimmerman should not have been allowed to defend himself.
It’s a law which was mentioned in the jury’s instructions but which was not central to this case— the law deals with people who feel threatened, as opposed to someone getting their head bashed in on a sidewalk.
