The saga of LTC Matthew Dooley, the Officer condemned for portraying Islam negatively, terminated from a teaching position and publicly scorned by high-ranking officials continues to suffer the fall-out from recklessly made decisions absent of any due process.
For over a year, Dooleys career has been in limbo creating undue hardship for his family.
Earlier this year, a military corrections board consisting of 2 Generals and 3 Colonels, recommended Dooley be retained on the Armys Battalion Command List. The newly confirmed Chief of the U.S. Central Command, General Lloyd J. Austin III, then Deputy Chief of Staff for the Army, overruled that approval. Austin ordered Dooleys name to be taken off the list signaling what appears to be the end of a decorated career for Dooley.
Dooley was targeted for termination from a teaching post in the spring of 2012 for teaching an APPROVED course at the Joint Forces Staff College (JFSC), a branch of National Defense University (NDU).
Dooley took the course titled Perspectives on Islam and Islamic Radicalism in 2010 at the Joint Forces Staff College (JFSC) and shortly after, he was selected to teach the course. Perspectives on Islam and Islamic Radicalism had been an approved elective course by the National Defense University (NDU) for over six years.
The curriculum and guest speakers had also been vetted by the school administration. This was again confirmed in writing by the NDU Deputy VP for Academic Affairs, Dr. Brenda Roth in December 2011.
His class garnered high praise from his Superiors, particularly the Commandant at JFSC who gave Dooley an outstanding Officer Evaluation Report (OER) and recommended Dooley for an immediate promotion.

We’ve gone so far astray from the founding principles and initiatives.
The enemy is indubitably within.
The enemy is indubitably within.
We elected him in 2008, and again in 2012.
Dempsey and others should be investigated for enabling Major Hassan to carry on his aggressive Islamic posturing for years until he carried out his personal jihad at Fort Hood.
This is sheer idiocy at the highest levels. The military personnel who enable masss murder are promoted and those teaching an accurate picture of Islam are harassed and punished.

Welcome to the “new” America. What a country!
Hey now, boys and girls........
Anybody out there STILL think that they can trust the military when push comes to shove???
ESPECIALLY the top brass??
Me neither.
So let me get this straight:
“The newly confirmed Chief of the U.S. Central Command, General Lloyd J. Austin III, then Deputy Chief of Staff for the Army” is the point man for this issue. He did, after all, sign the final official letter on this issue. But then, doesn’t Central Command run all of the Combat Operations in the Islamic terrorist areas of operations?
So we have an Army General Officer ordering/approving Americans to go out and kill/injure Islamic terrorists and to run the risks of being killed/injured by Islamic terrorists on a daily basis while punishing a LtCol who was trying to teach an academic course on what drives Islamic terrorists?
That course, IMHO, could/would/did provide future combat leadership insights as to what motivates Islamic Terrorists.
I would be much more impressed with the Army’s position on this issue if we were no longer involved in daily combat operations against Islamic terrorists.
Me? I received and acknowledged lawful orders from within the DOD to be part of America’s first response to Islamic Terrorism as fermented by the Palestine Liberation Organization and allied groups. The date of those orders was 1 July 1978. And that was long before any of the principle players in this farce were commissioned officers!
Islam does a fabulous job of portraying itself negatively....you just can’t point it out or even mention it publicly. It’s not even safe here on FR...several years ago, while I was in school. I had put my school email addy in my FR profile because there was another member who was sending me articles related to one of the degrees that I was working on. I posted a comment about Islam related to a news story that was posted on FR. The next day I received an email from a person who said he had reported me to the president of the university and the university police for being a member of a white supremacist organization (FR). I thought it was a joke. the following day I received a call from the university police telling me that I must report to the station. They grilled me for hours...they had copies of every post that I made on FR...they had stack of paper about 6 inches tall with every bit of info that they could find on me. I was worried that I was going to be thrown out of school. Finally, at the end, the police chief said that he didn’t find anything at all wrong and that I did not have anything to worry about. He said they were required to investigate any complaint of this type...even if it was from an anonymous person.

If you were stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune from the 1950’s to the 1980’s you were poisoned by the water. DOD and the Marine Corps covered it up for years and have tried to stonewall health studies and Congress for the past 20 years as the story has come to light. Millions of service people, dependents, and civilian workers on the base during the period of contamination were exposed and thousands are suffering or dead from various cancers and neurological disorders.
If you believe the military looks after its own, particularly the USMC, watch the documentary “Semper Fi”. It can be downloaded from Amazon or Netflix. The modern military is led by politicians who look after themselves, not the people that serve.
A man is known by his enemies, and if Dempsey is your enemy, then you are on the right side.
In order to appease Muslims , General Dempsey and the Department of Defense rushed to punish LTC Dooley. In the process, they violated not only our Nations core principles of free speech and academic freedom guaranteed by our Constitution, but also, a number of the militarys own regulations dealing with academic freedom
In my view Dempsey does nothing that he even suspicions his boss would have to give a thought to.
It's a sad day when the CJCS has forgotten his oath.
Who is Bernard Austin? I thought his name was Lloyd James. Also, I thought he was born in Thomasville, Ga?
