On this mornings Fox & Friends, criminal-justice expert Geraldo Rivera fielded a question about a ruling in the George Zimmerman trial, under which the jury will be allowed to consider a manslaughter conviction. As is his wont, Rivera went off, rolling MSNBCs Al Sharpton into his analysis, in a rather culpatory manner:
I thought that manslaughter was the only possible rap they could have brought from the get-go, because it requires no more than culpable or criminal negligence, unlike murder in the second degree, which requires a depraved mind and ill will and hatred and all the rest. It never was that. This was a case brought because of political pressure race politics in this country. I hate to say it: I hold the Rev. Al Sharpton in much higher regard than many of my colleagues. I wont speak for any of you presently, but I think I do, but I totally believe that the Rev. Al is the catalyst behind the murder-two charge six weeks after the incident. I believe the original prosecutor got it right. I think it is a self-defense situation, a classic self-defense when you strip it of all the trappings. That should have been the charge manslaughter at best, if any charge was going to be brought. The fact that they are resorting to it now is a sign of the desperation of the prosecution. They know how weak their case is. They have zero chance of convicting this man on murder charges.
Should the jury align with Riveras prediction, look for other voices on Fox News and elsewhere to point fingers at Sharpton.....

Jerry Rivers almost got it right. First time?
If not I don’t remember the last time.
It’s funny that even the dregs of NBCnews don’t like Sharpton.
Good point actually
Scared folks shoot quicker
No, it’s not. He was a decent enough fellow before the Clintons broke him. Literally.
Rivera is a pathetic liar. No one should take anything he says seriously.
I stopped reading there.
Finally, something funny.
LoL!
Believe it or not, he’s a lawyer, as is Greta Van Sustern and many of the other female hosts and commentators on Fox News.
He was a decent enough fellow before the Clintons broke him. Literally.
You’re almost 20 years too late on that analysis. He lost all crediblity back in the 1970s when Bob Guccione got all dreamy-eyed, thigh-sweats bro-mance over Rivera and published a pean to him in Penthouse.
Can you say “death knell”?
Geraldo is female? Now that’s bigger than Al Capone’s vault!
;^)
Why would anyone?
Tawana Brawley, remember? Produced and directed by Rev. Al. The man is scum.
“Believe it or not, hes a lawyer, as is Greta Van Sustern and many of the other female hosts and commentators on Fox News.”
So is the jackass in the white hut and his beard. Don’t be overly impressed.
I know he has a law degree and very briefly did some legal work before he became a "journalist." I have been practicing law for twenty-five years and know that a bare legal education and a year or so working in the field does not even come close to qualifying one as an expert or even competent. I did go back and read the article and somehow he got it right this time. Of course, his admission that he holds Al Sharpton in some regard should immediately disqualify him from ever uttering a valid opinion on anything.
hard to do when you are on your back being pummelled - Zimmerman said he didn’t go for his gun until Trayvon saw it in the holster and was going for it. Remember this: Z was an Obama fan, voted “D” - wonder how he is feeling these days.
Whorealdo!!!!! Who knew?
Lol. Ofcourse it’s late. Didn’t say he had his ups recently, did I?
Geraldo is half Hispanic. But a bleeding heart liberal. This had to be a tough call for him.
Mr. Zimmerman is 1/4 black, believe it or not.
