WASHINGTON — For the first time in more than 30 years, the Justice Department will revise its rules for investigations involving journalists to sharply limit the use of subpoenas or search warrants to obtain the phone records and e-mails of reporters. According to a Justice Department official, the new guidelines will say that in nearly all instances, news organizations will be notified in advance when federal agents are seeking their phone records as part of a broader investigation. Two months ago, editors at the Associated Press were surprised to learn that the FBI had secretly seized the dialing records

Rule of law means nothing any more. Less than nothing. We are in the middle of a coup. They can do whatever they want, commit any crimes, assasinations, treason - and no one says a damned word.

It's amazing. And the only reason we haven't been loaded up for transporting to the gulags/ravines/filling fields is because we're armed.

They do need to go easy on reporters who generally do their bidding for them. /S

Ignoring the rules they don’t like is what makes them totalitarians.

Freaking rules????

Pound sand asks hats .

It’s called the 4th amendment and you have regularly violated itit with impunity.

There simply is no mechanism to punish you the way a regular citizen would be punished if they did what you do.

Sorry, the key is stuck on. My son actually replaced the right-click button switch in my Logitech mouse the other day (desoldered it from another), but this Dell keyboard sucks.

Actually, I was giving benefit to possibly some reporters (without vetting them) for helping turn over rocks to see what slime crawled out. We’re in a world of hurt here.
